So am starting my ivf injections tomorrow, with lupron, and am abit on the heavy side, am just wondering if there are any stories of someone who is heavy and had success with ivf. someone, anyone, am going  here. even though my doctor dosnt seem worried, am a bit worried. so please share. my history with TTC is on my siggggy :haha:

weight CAN play a factor with natural fertility. As far as within IVF I am not sure. It may play a factor on them upping your meds but if your dr doesnt seem worried, I wouldnt worry :)

(crap hit the button mistake) anyway, I flat out asked my FS at our initial meeting if my weight was impacting our success. He said no - like Jess said it plays a factor but women of all shapes and sizes have trouble with IF.
:)

Oh yeah also to piggyback what Jess said (again) they figure your weight in with your medication protocol, that's why they're always weighing you

My weight was high for both of my cycles. My dr said obviously lower is better and in some places they do ivf free only if ur bmi is under 30 or 35 I think. Mine still worked and so have many others. I was never weighed once during any of my treatments - it was not considered relevant for doses. My hormone blood results are what determined my doses. I know sometimes they weigh you to watch for ohss.

Goodluck!

Wow Blue really? They weighed me every other visit the first IVF but now that you mentioned it it was probably for OHSS.
Congrats on your miracle!

I'm heading into my 3rd cycle and still think about the weight. I wish I could lose some!

I am a bit on the heavy side, a little under 200 lbs at 5'0". I have not tried IVF yet, I am hoping to lose 10 to 20% of my body weight before we give it a go....although with my PCOS I have been pretty unsuccessful.

However, I do have a friend who was a little over 300 lbs, and when she told her OBGYN she wanted to head straight away to IVF her dr, she quoted, said "Well, you know you're over 300 lbs right?" My friend, knowing her I should have figured she would say something like this, said, "Huh? When did that happen? Last time I checked I was skinny." Don't really think the dr knew what to say but all in all, she went to IVF straight away. First IVF was a BFN, she was devasted but her insurance covered it so she went ahead with a 2nd IVF. Amazingly, BFP, she has since given birth to a beautiful little girl and she plans to do FET to try for a 2nd to complete her family. I honestly had my doubts, just from what my dr has personally said about my weight preventing me from conceiving, but her success has given me hope.

Hope this helps, best of luck!

Thanks ladies, you don't know how this has been bothering me. Am on my way to the clinic for my first lupron  wish me luck
Mrsjennyg :haha: I do that all the time, and I won't even realize it until the person I sent the message to sends me a 'wtf' back.
:dust: to us all.

Good luck Mamali! You have to go to the doctor to get the shot? How often do you go? The doc mentioned Lupron when he said they might change my medication protocol but we won't know what they decide until next week at some point.
Molae that's so wonderful for your friend! What a quick come back too- I don't think I would be that quick on my feet!

The only other time I've heard about weight interfearing with ivf is during egg retrieval they may not be able to reach all the eggs I know one person this happened for but they were 380lbs. They still got pregnant though.

Thnx Mrsjennyg, I was supposed to go on the first day, that's today, so they'll show me how to do the injection myself, but after my doctor scanned for my baseline, she changed the injections from lupron to zoladex. It's done only once for a span of 21 days. So on the 16th of march I go back for another baseline, if the lining is thin enough I move on to the next injection, if not, they do another zoladex.

It's suppose to shed the lining to below 5mm, mine is 7mm. Though am not sure of the measurement parameter.

Yeah, I guess that's what the progesterone suppositories are for. You didn't down regulate during your ivf?

No my IVF cycle was starting 300iu of Follistem on cd2 then adding in Ganarelix on cd6. HSG trigger cd9 and ER on cd11. After ER I had 2 days of progesterone in oil injections before the cycle was canceled.
