So i had my monthly gym assessment today, and as part of it they take all different measurements and take your weight. I was 80kg before I got pregnant, and today, at 16w1d i'm 81.5kg. All my body measurements were the same except my boobs, waist and hips which i totally expected.

I didn't lose any weight during first tri, despite being quite sick, and my appetite hasn't gone anywhereis huge. So i was just wondering whether this seems ok, as it feels like a very small gain.

I only started exercising when I was pregnant (not on purpose, I joined the gym 2 days before my surprise but very wonderful bfp) and i've been sticking to a programme they've worked out for me, so i'm not overdoing it at all!

Maybe i'm just being daft! It's def the first time in my life i've ever worried about not putting on weight! And i was a little overweight to begin with, so maybe that's why i'm not putting on much weight. I'm seeing my doc next week so i'll ask her. Just thought i'd see what people think.

Thanks heaps!!

I didn't start gaining til 22 or 23 weeks and dr was fine with it as baby was measuring well on target. I've gained 12-15 lbs now and most is baby and fluid. As long as you're eating enough the weight will come. I'm cleared to gain the normal 23-35 lbs but I hope I stay under 20!

A gain of 1.5kg seems fine at 16 weeks, especially if you were a little overweight to begin with. I don't think you have anything to be concerned about.

My weight before getting pregnant was 73kgs/160lbs. I lost a good bit during the first trimester (about 7kgs/15lbs) and am still slowly losing weight at 18 weeks, even though my ms went away over a month and a half ago. Im eating like crazy now!

My doctor was totally unworried when I asked. He just said "Well, if you want to add more healthy calories to your diet, you can." I was concerned, but if he doesnt think it's a big deal Im going to try not to fret about it. I was also somewhat overweight before.

Thanks for that. i thought it was ok, i just panicked reading posts about people gaining much more!

Here's a website link that I had sent to me yesterday.

I lost 2kg when I got pregnant, and I've only put that back on, so I'm back to my pre-pregnancy weight. I haven't put anything on since. I've been eating enough etc but it just ain't happening.

Funny thing is, my baby was measuring about a week ahead, so it's not as if she isn't getting what she needs (but I feel it was a growth spurt anyway).

My midwife isn't overly concerned about not gaining. She's happy I've gained what I've lost at least. I'm overweight anyway, so I think it doesn't matter too much.

I wish i was worrying about not gaining much im worrying about loosing everyweek and not gaining lol x

I haven't gained a pound, lost a few, my doc said it was completely fine and he has no doubt I'll gain weight later. Good job sticking to the gym!!!!

I lost weight in 1st tri around 28 pounds- im now 27 weeks and have gained 1.5 pounds this week which im pretty sure is what she weighs right now. Drs, mw's are not concerned as baby growing well and both of us are happy and healthy.

I felt like you when I was at your stage. I had gained 2lbs by 14 weeks. I spoke to mw who said not to worry and by around 20wks I'll start gaining more. She was right. At 19 weeks I gained half a pound and I weighed myself today and this week I had put on 2.5lbs. When I was concerned quite a few other women at the 20-23 wks point reassured me not to worry and that if I hadn't started to gain yet, then this is the point the weight gain would start going on.

Hi :)

I myelf posted on the exact same topic a few weeks ago. I have lost 25lbs and am now 25 weeks. I was very overweight when conceiving and this is my 2nd pregnancy. It's been the best thing for me and I continue to lose at this stage about half pound a week. I am not trying to lose it at all. My appetite and tastes have changed considerably. If I think about the weight gain purely from the baby (placenta, increased blood, fluid etc), then I've probably lost an extra 12-14lbs on top of that. The baby Is on Target and perfectly fine, so I think it's just my body naturally adapting and behaving as it should. If the loss or gain was really dramatic I know it would ring alarm bells. But I am now happy that the loss is normal. Hope you feel some reassurance from these posts as I did when I was worried. This forum is a godsend :)

Marie x

I weighed myself last week for the 1st time since bfp and I was only up about 4lbs which I think is about the same as you. In the past few days, though, my appetite's gone up loads so it might be that's up a lot next week
