just wondering what the symptoms are. Not sure if my baby has it. Didn't have any reflux with my older child.
Last night she was coughing and sputtering a lot. She slept through it but I didn't!
Quite often she will get fussy after a feed. Will stiffen up and screech. And spit up a bit (not usually a large amount). I usually can burp her pretty well though.
I use nipple shields though do you think she's getting a lot of air?
Sometimes she can be farty too but not all the time.

How would I know if dairy is a factor? Like I said I didn't have this problem with my son so I have no clue about this.

Following as I'm curious too. Mine's been coughing/sputtering more the past few days so I'm trying to figure out if it's something I'm eating or reflux. Amelia is super hard to burp though :(

My lo had been diagnosed with reflux. He cried straight after feeding, was sick quite often an hour or so after feeds and it looked very watery. He pulled his legs up as if in pain a lot and was generally a bit miserable. Hope that helps. It was the health visitor who thought it was reflux originally and advised me to visit GP.

My baby had silent reflux.. He wasnt sick very often but when he was it was watery and stunk of acid
He would scream hr was hungry but refuse the bottle.
Generally unhappy and also has a cows milk protein Allergy x
Id take baby to see a dr. X

He would also arch his back during and after feeds x

Hello ladies my little fella had acid reflux which was quite bad and lasted till he was about 5 1/2 months. Here is what i experienced with my LO, i should also point out that he had colic which apparently is common with reflux.

Would pretty much throw up after every bottle.
was constantly twitchy and always jerking about throughout the day as if he was always in pain
would cry sometimes after his bottle
seemed very irritable in bed of an evening
would arch his back during and after his bottle
would cry if i tried to lie him flat on his back
would always be bringing his knees upto his chest as if in pain
had the hiccups ALOT
would sometimes throw himself back when about to give him his bottle
hardly slept as it kept waking him up
im sure there were other things that happened and i think of anymore i will post them

things i tried to alleviate it

gave him colic drops for the colic
elevated his crib 30 degrees
bought a sleepyhead bed, amazing by the way he loved it
used a feed thickener
tried a reflux milk-no good
had medicine called omeprazole for the acid worked great. he did try ranitadine and domperidone but both were awful, think because they were cheap versions
i weaned him at 19 weeks and this was when he started to get a bit better
lots and lots of tummy time to strengthen his diaphram/core
gave him cooled boiled water when he had some tummy pains
used a baby carrier of a day to keep him upright
kept him upright for ten minutes after his feeds
made sure he was winded properly after every feed

i know it sounds like alot and i spent countless hours on the internet looking for the miracle cure, im so so sorry ladies but there just isnt one. the only thing you can do is try to make them as comfortable as you can so you can keep your own sanity. they will get better as they get older and trust me i know that when your going through it that seems like it is a million years away. but you will just stress yourself out looking for the answers. i used to spend hours in the store looking at counters thinking the cure was out there. if it was it would be there. it does get easier i promise and i hope what i have posted helps a little bit.

Good luck ladies
