Hi Ladies,

I have 2 grobags (0-6 months) 1 tog, 2 nighty things with elasticated bottoms (0-3 months) and 2 swaddle blankets (0-3 months)

What do new borns sleep in and do i need anything else ?

Does this sound about right ?

many thanks !!!

Sleeping bags are good, but for frst few weeks I swaddle mine, it seems to soothe them better in which case it's just a big shawl swaddled and if cold a thinner one on top. By about two-three months mine have had sleeping bags, tog depending on weather.

As in clothes I always make a point of having my babies in babygro's with feet at night and changing into clothes/outfit int the day! I think this helps them to get used to the difference in day and night time and both my two have been sleeping through by four-six weeks!

Hope that helps

My first simply lived in sleepsuits for the first few months. Obviously if we went out id put an outfit on him, but during days/nights at home it was sleepsuits all the way, with a blanket over him at night.

I have bought a grobag thing, i assume u mean the same thing i do, like a bag with over shoulder straps? I have heard that these arent really recommended till after 6 months though. I think its due to the length of them, and the fact they could ride up over babys head if he were a small wriggler. This may be wrong, please dont take it as gospel. They didnt exist when i had my first.

I do like shinning_star's thoughts on changing babys clothes for day time/ night time though. Not sure baby will notice the difference or not, but it cant help to try. First baby was awake 12am to 6am due to colic, so even if id of tried im not sure id of found out, lol.

And bloody hell! Just read the last bit of shining stars post, sorry. Ill give that a go even if it is coincidence her babys slept through from 4 to 6 weeks. My first had his first full night at around 3 years :(

It's prob more the fact you completly change their clothes and the air gets to them they know,(rather than the fact of wearing clothes.) SO basically three complete changes a day, OUT of night babygro, top and tail wash, into whatever, OUT of whatever bath if you want to this def helps bedtime routine BUT my children have suffered with dry skin so daily baths not recommmended, or top and tail and into nighttime babygro. So it's obviously not specifically the outfits, Although this prob helps with girls dresses more!

i don't know but my mum swore by it and it seemed to work for me, hehe but obviously there are some babies that it wouldn't work for, but i'm one for trying everything possible!

Thanks, I have 7 sleepsuits, which to be honest i thought were for the day a little more than night. I might have to stock up on a few more :)

thanks
