What do you think of the name Woody?

For a boy of course... Just wondering...

I’ve tended to shy away from all the “cool” names (but actually really like Jett and Rocco too) and have usually preferred more old fashioned names... Do you think he’d be taken seriously when he’s older?

I think it's cute as a nickname but I wouldn't use it a formal name. Can't really think of a nice long version of it right now though... I guess it's normally short for Woodrow?

Hmm...don't know where you are from but in the US that name could have some ramifications as he goes through school. Woody and Dick are probably the top two names I can think of that would definitely cause teasing.

I have a cousin whose nickname was Woody and his formal name was John. As soon as he hit the age when children start to tease and bully in class he asked to be called John instead. Now only his family call him Woody and he reminds them constantly that he prefers John.

So I guess if you really like the name I'd use it as a nickname instead of his formal name.

Thanks girls... I was thinking we're not in the States, so perhaps the nicknames wouldn't be so bad... And then I was thinking that's a shame that no one really likes it... and then I got to the bit about Woody Allen! He creeps me out and had totally forgotten he was called Woody too! So thanks for reminding me... I don't think I could do it now.

Interesting to see Jett and Rocco get more of a thumbs up!
