I look young (I AM young.. 20 is young right! lol)... but I look younger than 20 because I am 5'1.. and IDK I feel like I have a baby face you know esp. as I have about 20lbs to lose :dohh:

I keep having these fears that I'll pick Elyse up from school one day and the teacher/parents/other kids will think I'm her big sister :shy:

How can I make myself look my age/more like a mum..

Like I don't want to look frumpy mummy or something or "old"... I just want to look like a mom rather than a big sister or something.

While there's nothing wrong with looking young, I totally understand where you're coming from.

There are a few tricks with make-up that can make you look older. Like using earth tones instead of bright colours. Or wearing a light beige lipstick instead of pink.
Also when it's warm out you don't want to wear a top where your bra straps hanging out. (kinda of a duh, but I know I'm guilty of it sometimes!)
Also try wearing tops that are more "work place" and less "t-shirt." Or maybe try finding a comfy pair of boots or shoes with a small heel on it to give you some hight. Go through pictures on the internet of "mom looks" to get some ideas. But remember: don't ever make yourself uncomfortable just to look a bit older. It's not worth it! :hugs:

I already wear neutral make up and no lip gloss or lip stick :dohh:

Maybe I am just hopeless. lol.. I think if I cut my hair shorter I'd look older but I want to keep my long hair!

Get a short wig! And when you go to pick her up from school, throw it on. Then you can keep your long hair and have a short cut at the same time! :haha:

Look at the bright side, when you're 40 years old and out with your 40 year old friends, you'll be the only one getting carded! :winkwink:

Or you could do what I do. When people ask how old I am (being rude because they can tell I'm pregnant) I say I'm really 25 and that I have a good plastic surgeon.

I have the same problem. Im 20 with a 19 month old and a baby on the way. Thing is, i dont care what other people think now and there are plenty of mums who look young ( and some actually arent) I look about 16, i use to hate it but now i think "hmm this is pretty good cos when i really am old, ill look young :) "

I cut my short, i grew my hair for so long but it really does make you look older. I also dress respectable. I dont bother with the mini this and mini that.

My oldest sister is 29, she has an 11 yr old and twin 8 yr olds. She looks about 16 yrs old btw. She has copped the whole "are they your sisters" but she like sit now.

Some woman today thought DH was my dad....Now THAT'S something to be worried about!

xx

I'd keep the young look. It sounds great to me! You'll be very glad of it when shes older and all the other kids are being collected by frumpy mummies. :)

when I used to teach in high school a few years ago, they would think I was one of the 12th graders!

someone thought my sister was my mum once, she's only 8 years older than me lol.
maybe just dress smart but i wouldnt go out of my way to look older.

i'm seventeen but people mistake me for about twenty lol my tips are..don't dress up too much but don't dress down too much, i tend to wear long jumpers and leggings and flat shoes, i keep my makeup to a minimum, wear no foundation, beige lipgloss and very neutral colours on my eyes, cut my hair short but now it's growing i can feel my self looking younger! and keeping it dark.

don't really think they're tips but lol...

you look how you look, if someone says "are you Elyse's sister?" say no i'm his bloody mother!!! lol that'll shut them right up :):)

I personally think that you shouldn't try and change yourself hun just to stop some people thinking that your a big sister.

Elyse will know that your "mummy" and that's the important thing.

I wouldn't care what people think.

And it won't be that long before she starts shouting "mum" lol

As for school, the teachers will know you x

Don't worry about what other people think I'm sure they won't think you're her sister, I think I look quite young too, I'm 19 but I don't care what others think lol atleast you look young and always will ;)

yer i get that! people ask if hes my brother when hes calling me mummy?! weird...
im small and have a baby face too but my mum is 56 and looks young, and my sis is 31 and looks 20. ive past caring what people think!
i make a point to dress nice and look nice and so many mums at ashs nusery look frumpy and soooo old.
its better to be young though? so many women in the hosp were having babies really late, like 45, and i just couldnt do that, i always knew i wanted to have kids at around 25 so im young and have energy and a long time to watch them grow up and be a part of my grandkids lives. :)

I have the same problem. I am 20 but look about 14, doesn't help that I'm short and skinny as well as having a baby face! If we are ever out with my mum and people stop to talk to us they assume my mum is Grace's mum and I'm the sister!

OT but whenever I see your siggy I can't help but sing :D

To the OP I wouldn't try and make yourself look older, anyone who matters will know your her mum!

I'm exactly the same! 21 and look about 14! Whenever I go to baby groups etc...I try my best to look older but it just doesn't work...at one they weer surprised I was old enough to drive..mind you the girls asking were 15 so it wasn't meant offensively lol!

It drives me nuts though...but try not to let it get to you, all the important people know she's your little girl, so that's all that counts! Also..my friend's mum had her young and she said it used to be cool for her to have the 'fashionable, young mum' at school, so maybe it'll be the same for us :D

Where i live people give you nasty looks for being pregnant.
I wouldnt worry about her school and other mum's their, even if they do mistake you for her sister once you correct them then its over with? its only going to happen the once, i'll be in my 20's by the time my little man starts nursery. i look my age which is quiet lucky! but i always (rudely) get asked how old i am (18 btw)

Dont try and change yourself, you are who you are :D
xx

i agree with the other girls...

deffo not worth changing who you are...
my nan used to pick me and my cousins up from school, and they used to think she was all of our mum..
she later explained it's impossible to have 3 children in the same yearrr!!

but obviously i wouldn't wear knicker-flasher skirts and stuff to school :p but if you want to then, tbh who is anybody else to judge, as long as your daughter is get the perfect amount of love..
xxxx
