Charting is a method of getting to know your cycles, allowing people to more easily try to concieve or for birth control. It involves recording your temperature (just upon waking) every day, and sometimes the observation and record of cervical fluid, or other menstrual symptoms. A great book on the subject is Taking Charge of Your Fertility.

FertilityFriend.com is a great website and mobile app that offers free tutorials that teach you all about charting. Basically you are monitoring your body to be able to identify the subtle symptoms that tell you when you ovulate. This allows you to better time sex when you are TTC 
It really is a lot of fun getting to know the things that your body tells you that until now you were completely oblivious to!

I would gave found the apps and websites confusing if I hadn't read the book first. It is awesome, I really recommend it

I LOVE charting!! Being Catholic and all, it's the BEST option for the hubby and I. I know their are books and websites that are great, but we actually took a class in our hometown. We actually were recommended the class from our priest before we got married, sooo maybe you can call a Catholic church or a Catholic charity or possibly a Catholic hospital, if any are near and see if they can hook you up with a class. The class was a lot of fun! We were with 3 other young couples like us, some were trying charting to postpone pregnancy and some were trying charting to help get pregnant. They were awesome people! The teachers were very knowledgeable and were available to call anytime if we had, or currently have, any questions. It was 5 classes for $40. We even got this HUGE booklet to take home for references if/when we needed them. The big booklet is SOO nice!
