Hello,

So if I am not pregnant this month, I decided I am going to start charting next month. I dont know how well this is gonna work, because with my work schedule, I am hardly ever going to sleep and waking up at the same time. When I do work, its usually from 5:00pm until 2:00am, and I am never able to fall asleep right after work, even if I wanted to. Its kinda like if you worked a regular 9:00am-5:00pm... Nobody goes to bed right when they get off work.. You have to wind down, do your thing etc. Well sometimes I may be tired at 3:00am, other times I may be tired at 7:00am... Im just naturally a night owl anyways, even from when I was a kid...

Any suggestions on what I could do to make this charting thing work?

What is the best basal thermometer you have used? I read some reviews on the Walgreens brand and they are ALL horrible.. One woman said she found it to work better rectally, but I aint doing all that so... Which one do you think I should get?

So about temping.. Do I have to go to sleep and wake up at the same time for it to be correct?

Any other advice is welcome :)

Thank you

It doesn't matter what time you go to sleep, all that matters is you have 3 hours of sleep and temp at the same time each morning as soon as you wake up. Try and find a time where you are generally asleep for a few hours. Even if you don't have to wake up so early. You can take your temp, write it down, and just go back to sleep.

Anyways, I've always used the CVS purple bbt for $12 and I've never had a problem with it. It's still going strong after 6-7 months of everyday use. There's a thread going around of faulty bbts, it'd be worth taking a look at before you buy one xx

Well you are just a wealth of information for me today LOL.. thank you so much :hugs: For some reason I was just thinking that I had to like go to sleep at midnight everyday, then wake up at 8:00am and take my temp.. not gonna happen for me..

So lets say I one day go to sleep at 6:00am, and wake up at noon and take my temp..

Then the next day I go to sleep at 9:00am and wake up at noon and take my temp..

It would be OK and my chart wouldnt be faulty if I did it like this?

LOL yes I'm bored and can't sleep... so what else do I do but get on BNB? :haha: If you take your temp at noon both days, it won't matter just as long as you get 3 hours of sleep. It does not matter what time you go to bed xx

Woo hoo. Well I hope you are bored all the time LOL.

So do I have to chart for a few months before it will tell me the days that I actually ovulated? And will a temp spike mean that I am ovulating that day, or that I am about to ovulate any day?

No it will tell you the first cycle. It takes 3 days of high temps for it to confirm ovulation. It won't tell you when you're about to ov, but 3 days after you ovulated. That's why it's good to use OPKs too or BD everytime you see fertile CM or fertile signs. FF has a chart gallery if you'd like to see examples of what a chart should look like and what you are looking for. When you temp, try to be as consistant as possible, put the thermometer on the same side of your mouth everyday (do not switch) and do it immediately after waking before getting up or even speaking xx

OK I see.. So I will do that and track my cm at the same time next month and still BD every other day at least just in case. Now if I could only find that thread about faulty thermometors..

I think this is the thread,

The BD bbt is supposed to be good, but you have to order it online. All I know is do not get the generic target brand or walgreens brand. The only BBT that I know for sure is a good drugstore bbt is the CVS one (the one I use). I haven't heard anybody say anything negative about it and I've never noticed any repeat temps xx

OK So I may go to CVS and get one. But what is BD BBT? lol

It's just called the BD basal body thermometer.. I think they sell it on amazon for about $10. I hate waiting on shipping so I went with the CVS lol. If you decide to get yours there, I believe it's in the family planning section xx

I dont want to wait on shipping either! The CVS one is definatley not the same one they sell at walgreens, walmart and target? Because in that thread you told me about, I think the ladies were saying all of those were the same brand.

Yeah I want to start using this AS SOON as my period stops. I am glad you pointed out to me that I can still chart.. Whoo hooo! Will the CVS one leave the temp on there until after I wake up? I dont wanna have to get up, get a pen and all that crap LOL. Also will fertiltiy friend let me enter my info from my black berry? I broke my OH's Laptop last time I was over there, so I have nothing but my phone LOL.

Noo it's completely different. It's the CVS brand and it's purple. I think the walgreens and walmart ones are the same & those are white/pink. I haven't seen any complaints about the cvs one, & I've never ever had any issues with it. I can't think of one and I've been using it since January. Well the only thing I don't like about it, is that it doesn't light up. You can still see it though, but sometimes if it's too dark I have to get my phone out to shine a light at the temp. That's my only complaint. You can also use it vaginally too! xx

I just used a normal digital thermometer and it worked fine for me...:flower:
