I asked when she was born and was told it was a bruise. That it is definately not.

Then I asked at the GP when she was a week old and they told me they didn't know and they will have another look at 6 weeks.

I had a quick google (wish I hadn't to be honest...) and I think it's either a 'stork bite/angel kiss/salmon patch' or a port-wine stain. She also has them on the back of her neck and on the top of her head which is apparently common with the 'stork bite/angel kiss/salmon patch'.

So what do you think it is??

Anyone have a LO that has/had something similar and it went away?

EDIT: Photo added lol! :dohh:

Excuse the horror on her wee face! She doesn't like cameras much... lol!

Im not sure tbh but i have seen a port wine and i cant tell well enough? Does she show any sensitivity in those areas? Xx

my LO was born with a similar looking one on his eyelid, at first we thought that was a bruise but it wasn't. i've heard it referred to as a strawberry mark, but TBH i've no idea on anything about birthmarks so i don't really know what that means. he also has a mottled looking one on the back of his neck. the eyeid one has faded over time, but you still notice it more when hes crying/worked up.

My dd1 face was covered in these but they disappeared just before she was 1 and dd2 has them in exactly the same place as your lo so im guessing the will just fade in time too. Sometimes they can be from pressure when they are born xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

im no expert but charlie has this on the back of his head and neck, still there after 7mths, some days its quite bright and seems larger other days its quite patchy, i think your daughters looks like the type of pressure birthmark they get after being born, has it changed in size atall? is it raised, if it was me id be asing my G>P for a referral

I'm on my phone so cant see the picture as well as I would on my laptop but it looks like a stork bite. My lo has one on the back of his neck. It's nothing to worry about and I've been told they disappear.

My friend was born with a birthmark that covered half of her face! It went after a few months. You can sort of see it now when she cries lol

Those ones are like v shaped and are called stork marks. My daughter has the same.
Its not a strawberry mark - those are other wise known as hemangiomas, which are a group of blood vessels under the skin to make a raised bright red bump. My daughter has one of those too under her right eye. Ill see if i can add a pic to show the difference.

Also, my lo has one on the back of her neck. It's exactly the same shape and in the same place as her dads!

yes my Lo has one on his forehead, I was told it was a pressure mark that they get from being in the birth canal, I think it fades before they are two. My niece had one too and hers is gone though they do appear again if they cry or get angry!

Lyla has one on the back of her neck, I've heard they fade after a while x

Yeah there are so many. We first thought it was a bruise from an oxygen mask she had on at birth, but it grew and we realised it was a hemangioma.
She also had a pressure mark on the back of her neck. The fore head and neck stork marks are very common, but can vary greatly in how red they can get - usually made worse when crying or poo'ing!

But they all fade, or should, by the time theyre two, if not definitley by the time theyre 5.

They are what makes our babies individuals! x

my LO has one on his hand and the doc said it will go by the time he's 18 months old as he wasn't born with it it's just come as he's grown and when the rapid growth stops it should disappear the HV said the same so i'm hoping its true

My niece had one just the same in the same spot and it has gone, cant remember when it went but she is 4 now and its been gone a while.

Daisy had a stork mark on the back of her neck and her eyelid. Both have completely faded now (she's 2).

Nope, it's not changed size or shape at all. And it's not raised either.

The GP said they will have another look at 6 weeks and consider a referral then.
