LO normally crashes at 6pm and sleeps until 4:30 (2 night feeds, midnight + 3am)

He was up at 3pm and will be tired by 5pm.

Would you put him down for a nap, until 530ish, then up till ??

or down for the night? Cause I'm kinda tired of the 4:30am wakeup every morning!!!

Or would you keep him up to 6????

Help

I would try and put him down he may go to sleep and sleep longer than you think he will-I'm quite selfish in the night and early morning feeds there's no play time, it's drink a little rest then back to sleep so I can sleep, she doesn't nap much during the day so it's my only time to sleep myself

I'd put him down for a cat nap and then aim for a 7:30-8ish bed time until he can go that bit longer between naps.

Thanks both!!

I tried to put him down.. he was having none of it :( He was up for 3 hours and then another 20 to settle for bed (no meltdown) but he seems to be stirring a lot from what I can hear in the monitor.. :(

I cheat slightly and if I am really tired after that feed and olly wont settle I will bring him into my bed he goes out like a light. I try and not do this too much but yea it is useful! x

I just take LO to bed with me and fall asleep.
I tried giving a nap for my LO at 5pm but they often refuse, but then if I keep them up they then become difficult to settle for the night.
If you do succeed in getting them to nap, then I followed, at that age, the 1.5 - 2 hour rule, so they'd be in bed 2 hours from waking the latest otherwise I would then have to fight them to sleep, so if they did a 20-30 minute nap at 5 I would then have them in bed by 7ish (7:30 latest)

we put our LO, 22 wks down for a quick 45min-1hr nap at 4/5pm and then up until lights out at 7.30pm...x

Yup unfortunately mine is a strange kid in that he won't sleep with me, he perks up wide awake!!

We do a 5pm catnap he always wakes after half an hour. Then it's play till 6pm followed by bottle, bath and bed at 7pm. If he doesn't take a catnap (almost never for us) then it's an early bedtime at 6pm (bottle at 5pm).

Mine won't weep with us either, he also perks up!

yes five months is still the three naps a day time. What's your schedule overall? Because I was always able to fit a nap at around 4-4:30 and it was the toughest by far. I'd aim for 7pm bedtime right now. But do it gradually. I think Bella was able to drop her last nap completely at around 7 months, now it's 9-11 and 1-3 with bedtime routine starting at 6:30, down by 7/7:30 the latest.

His naps are irregular-ish but generally:

5am: wakeup
7am: nap (1.5hr or 30 min, a bad phase that seems to be over)
8:30-11: play
11-12:30: nap
12:30-2:30ish: play
2:30 or 3ish: nap (usually 45 min)
5:30: start bed routine
6ish: bed
(Awake 1,3:30am feeds), and up for the day at 5

Gabriel has a 9pm bedtime and I try to get him to take a late nap. I was able to get him to take a 30 min one at 7pm last night, but usually he refuses to nap in the evening. There's no way in hell he'd go to sleep before 8pm.

Yeah funny enough mine was the same (10pm usually) and then suddenly went backwards! Going to bed at 5pm right at the time change, quite the nightmare!!!! LOL silly babies..

I would try treating the 5am wake up like a night waking. I imagine it'll be tough for a bit, but I'd feed him if he's hungry, keeping lights out/low and interaction minimal and then put him back into his crib. Even if he stays awake the entire 2 hours there before going back to sleep, hopefully he'll get the idea that there's nothing exciting worth waking up for at that hour of the day.

It took about a week for Ronan to adjust to the time change, with me shifting his bedtime about 15 minutes or so every couple of days.

I agree with the above..that would be worth a shot.

back to the original OP, Hazel usually has a little cat nap at about 5.00 and then she is in bed for 7.00-7.30. Up for the day anywhere between 6.30-8.00. (has two feeds in the night though)
xx
