This may be the most pointless/stupid question ever!

I have twins, so go through 2 bottles at each feeding. (I exclusively express.) They eat 6-7 times a day, so that's 12-14 bottles I go through daily. I have 5 different types of bottles, but they refuse to use all but one kind. (Ironically, they only will use the cheapest possible kind I can buy - $1 per bottle. They refuse the Dr. Brown's, Nuk, etc.)

I have 12 bottles of the kind they like to use. They are 5oz bottles. The girls usually take 4oz at each feeding, but will occasionally take 6oz or as little as 2oz. It's impossible to guess how much they will eat, so I always offer 4oz and if they want more, I give more. If they don't finish, it's not a big deal.

I've been considering buying more bottles so I have to only wash 1-2 times a day instead of 3-4 times a day. But I don't know if the girls are suddenly going to start taking 6-8oz in a week or two and then the 5oz bottles will be useless. The bottles aren't expensive, so it's not like it would be a huge loss if that happens, but I'm still not sure about what to do.

So, my stupid/pointless question: would you buy more bottles? :dohh:

Do the bottles come in bigger sizes? If so, I would buy a few more. :)

I would. My LO has never taken more than 5oz at a time.

They do, but I still wouldn't want to put more than 4oz in them at a time for fear of waste. Though I guess it does make sense to buy bigger bottles and only put 4oz in them...then when the girls do take more, I'll have the larger bottles already... :dohh:

:) Yeah, we bought heaps of the smaller ones and she went up a feed size quicker than I had thought. So only got to use the smaller bottles for a week or two before they became useless.

Your breast milk changes composition as they get older so they don't really need to increase the amount of milk they take (after about a month old anyway). But if you're going to buy more bottles anyway then you may as well make them bigger ones!

I would buy the bigger ones, you don't have to fill them up all the way! I EP too and I would be surprised if they don't eventually take more at one time. Even though he gets BM 95% of the time, my little guy eats more like a FF baby than a BF one. By 3 months old he was eating 8oz bottles every 4hrs during the day and sleeping about 6 hrs at night. I have started him on solids now, but he will still eat 6-7oz of milk every 4 hrs and eat a few oz of baby food 3 times a day. He will also sleep 7-8 hrs at night.

They may not need more milk, but since they are only bottle fed, they may start eating more at once and spacing feeds out longer. At least this is what my DS did :)

Erm... just buy the larger bottles and use them for the time being with 4oz of milk then put more in as they get bigger?!

Buy bigger you can always pour less milk in least you've the extra room tho!
