Violet is constantly using the word "tea." We're Americans, so we don't use the word to refer to a meal; we mean the drink. My husband and I drink tea a lot and so she is quite familiar with it. He drinks a lot of black tea and I drink mostly herbal tea with occasional black or green tea. Violet has been interested in drinking from a cup lately (opposed to relying on nursing for hydration) and she certainly enjoys her tea! We give her herbal tea, water, or milk from a cup. "Tea" is the only one she asks for by name. I'm not sure if she knows what it means or if it's just her catch-all for "drink."

What's your new talker's favorite word right now?

P.S. by "early," I meant early in their speech development, not necessarily that they are speaking early.

Aww tea is such a cute word, bless her shes wants to be like her mummy and daddy! My lb's favourite word right now is 'OUT'!!!! Out means get out of whereever he is,open the stair gate, get out of his cot, he wants to be put down from being held, get in or out of the bath.

The way he says it is so demanding too! I am not going to miss this word when he outgrows this phase!

xox

My 17 month old has been talking for months and can say pretty much everything. She can put little sentences together and we have great little conversations.

Rather than a word, she has started singing recently. Her favourites including shouting 'Jingle bells' at the top of her lungs (in the middle of April lol), Twinkle Twinkle, Let It Go (from Frozen) and rather than ask for a cartoon on TV, she will sing the theme tune for me!
I think I have a little Diva in the making. I'm still amazed at what they can do at that age, and she's my 3rd baby lol

"Owl" and "bird"

There are a lot of owls on things in the house like my tea cups which they like to point out (like I don't know the owls are there).
When ever a pigeon goes by the window they go nuts shouting "bird bird bird".

OP: My twins were born the same day as your LO (in the afternoon though) and Twin 1's middle name is Violet

Hmmm... my son is working on a few different words right now.

Hot, Airplane, Lights, and Door are the ones I'm hearing the most often....

oh yeah and the forever demanding MAMA!!! whenever he needs, wants, or thinks of something.

"me?"

As in "Rhys don't do that/you're going to get hurt/please stop"

and he asks "Me??" as if he doesn't realize I'm speaking to him

DD's is "Adam". It's her little brother's name and she says it constantly. She points out everything of his...."Adam's shoes", "Adam's hair", "Adam's glove" etc. She even says it when she is walking around talking gibberish, it's like she is having a full blown conversation about him but just doesn't have the words yet. OH and I were in fits of giggles the other day when she even said his name in her sleep.

I think it's fair to say he has made a big impression on her - it's so adorable :cloud9:

Shoes! Actually it sounds more like seuss (like Dr. Seuss). She points to them all the time, and when she's not wearing them she carries them around with her. Her other most frequent is "bad dog!" because I'm always yelling at ours for barking and for stealing food from LOs hand. She says it to every dog she sees which is a little embarrassing!

Annika is into saying "where are you". She will hide just so she can say it, and it sounds like "weeee are you". :)

More. More. More. Cute but gets annoying!

We have a few; bird followed by tweet tweet. Animal sounds when we see them. The demanding mama dada. And biscuit (said buuh) oh and raaraa as in the tv show! All his words are said quite demanding!

Phrase I hear a lot...."more buuh" bad mummy!!!

Jake has a few words but the 2 that he says the most is "dirty" and "there."

He's not exactly an early talker but he keeps saying 'dinosaur!' (didasooor) I think he thinks he's George pig :dohh:

She yells 1 all the time and points her one finger up in the air and clock, quack and duck are also favs .

'where's she gone' said all as one word, which she got from us playing peep po with her. Evie's vocabulary has now gone over 40words but she still doesn't say mummy, which I find a little sad... Especially as last weeks new words were coffee and toaster lol!

Miy little girl doesnt say mummy either lol the cat was her 1st word not mummy haha, charming x

The ones on repeat at the moment are 'hiya' and 'bye bye'.

She'll stand there holding on to the sofa with one hand and wave with her other and say 'bye bye'.

Current favourite is "hideydeball" which means Hide the Ball :D - we've been practicing for our Easter Egg hunt by hiding small balls around the room and she finds them and puts them in her basket :D

"Popotam" (from "hippopotame", French for Hippo)
She loves naming animals and when she started saying "popotame" we found it so cute we kept making her repeat it, so did grandma and grandpa. She realized we liked it, so now she says it all the time. Now nearly all animals are "popotam" :haha:
