I was just wondering whether to buy my nursing bras after the baby is born since I hear that the size of boobs once again changes when you're breastfeeding. But then again I probably won't be in any shape to go shopping in my first week post partum. Do you ladies buy them before / after the birth ?

I've bought a few already, but with a bigger cup size. I'm hoping it will fit as I know I won't fancy going bra shopping straight away!

I bought a few already as I thought it pointless to buy bigger bra's when I wont be able to wear them when i'm done nursing, so just to kill two birds with one stone bought all the bigger bra's now so I can wear them. I bought some from Baby's R Us and some from Motherhood Maternity.

Ive read that the best time to get measured for them is around 38weeks in mothercare, but also milk dosnt come in straight away so, with DD i went from a 34b pre-pregnancy to 38ee when nursing and ended up going to mothercare when she was a wek old as the couple i had bought werent big enough?x

When you do decide to go bra shopping, try out Mothercare in their sale section. In my local shop it was a small hanging section near the tills but had lots of support, maternity and nursing bras in. As long as you are not fussed about colour you might be able to drop lucky and find something in your size or maybe next size up which would do. I was lucky to find a white nursing bra (I wanted a black one tho), but it was half price at £8 so very happy!

They reackon 38weeks to be measured but I didn't bother until my supply had settled down a bit. I got mine from Debenhams, I found the mothercare ones were uncomfortable (and over priced) plus I really liked the Miriam Stopard ones they cover alot more flesh than the mothercare ones too

I've already bought a load from tesco, for £2 each! I just got a slightly bigger size.

I bought a couple last week and will get a few more once LO has arrived

I've been wearing nursing bras for ages simply because there's a better selection than maternity bras. I have four at the moment and will buy more once she's here and I know whether I need to increase size etc. I'm also looking forward to hopefully getting some underwired nursing bras. I've missed underwire.

Can also vouch for miriam stoppard ones from debenhams i found the mothercare ones rubbish and totally unsupportive i've also just bought a underwired nursing bra as if found non wired so depressing and missed the wired support too much so i can alternate when i need a boost!!!

Your milk starts to come in from 34 weeks so Id suggest getting re-measured a few weeks after that. Debenhams have good nursing bras and if you fancy a nice one for those pick me up days - check out www.hotmilk.co.uk I think it is. x

I bought a 2 pack from mothercare (one black one white!) in the size I am now just to do me for the first few weeks, then I will get measured after my milk has come and my size a little more 'settled'. Tbh I'm not too worried about them fitting perfectly, although I want them to be comfortable, I won't be wearing tight clothes that show the shape too much so doesn't matter if they're not perfect. It'll be baggy tshirts and hoodies for me for a while I think!

I have brougt a 2 pack from matalan for £10.
I washed them before I wore them and managed to dye my white one a dingy grey by washing it with my new black dressing gown :(
Might have to go shopping again before I pack my hospital bag!

i bought mine last night at 36+5 due to lack of transport from tom! I got them from mothercare i actually prefer mothercare to debenhams find them much more comfy

Your milk doesn't come in until about 3 days after you've given birth!

I'm going to get measured next week (I'll be 38 weeks), and will just buy one or two to see me through in case they aren't comfortable or the sizing is wrong. Wanted to leave it as late as possible really.

Who measures you ? Do the ppl in mothercare do it ? or do I have to bring my own measuring tape. I've never been measured for underwear fitting before, except the one time I bought really expensive lingerie.

Any decent bra shop should offer a fitting service including Mothercare. You don't need to take a tape measure, they will have one. They will measure you over the bra you are wearing and should choose a selection of bras for you to try on. They will stay in the dressing room with you whilst you try the bras on unless you ask to be left to it.
