I can't remember how far in advance I put our sons car seat in before we delivered. I'm due for a c section in two and a half weeks and wondered if I should get on with it and put the seat in sooner in case. I could go early, there's always a Chance. When did you or are you planning to?

I plan on installing mine next weekend, or at least practising how to do it! I'll be 38 weeks then x

With our other two, I had my husband install them when I was 35 weeks. We will do the same this time.

Ours doesnt arrive until next Friday, along with the base and the pram etc so will install it next weekend, so I get used to driving around with it.

i was about 36 weeks when we put ours in. we did it early because if you make an appointment, you can have it checked by the local highway patrol for safe installation.

Well shoot I better get on it then!!

Another question. Did you move your older child to behind the drivers seat and put the new baby behind the passenger seat? (Assuming that the older child is behind the passenger seat now).

Will install ours around 36 weeks.

As for moving kids I've read that if they fit and one is forward facing then you leave the forward facing child in the middle and baby behind either side. Obviously if they don't fit then one on each side.

Middle? We have a mini van with captain seats so there's no middle seat. Do you mean if there's a bench then the older one would go in the middle? I've heard that's the safest place for them but never actually known anyone to do it. It seems to take up the whole back.

Anyhow. I suppose it doesn't matter where baby sits does it? Or should they go behind the passenger?

I'm not sure with a seat like that, the general rule is the least protected child (forward facing) goes in the most protected seat.

Would love to hear if behind driver or passenger is better for baby?

I doubt I will have enough room to keep either in middle and will have one on each side.

Hmmm, I don't think it would make much difference safety wise the passenger or drivers side, but it may be easier to see your newborn behind the passenger side.

Baby usually goes behind passenger seat so when you are putting baby in & taking baby out you are usually on the foot path side so no danger of cars hittting you when you have your butt hanging out of the door , also easier to peek at bub when they are on passenger side when you are driving !
I will be moving my 7yo daughter to behind the drivers seat !

We've put the car seat base behind the passenger seat, mainly so that I can see him better. I'm 38 weeks and we put the base in yesterday :) I'm not sure of the safety advice as to where the seat should go but sounds like most people choose the passenger side for the new baby.

I wasnt going to put the seat in at all as I gathered DH would be going home before I come out of hospital anyway.

I've already had the isofix base fitted in the car, but the car seat is still boxed away, I guess I will grab it when we go to the hospital I didn't really think about the seat part

I think we will put the new baby behind the passenger seat so that I can see her. I didn't really want to disrupt my son for the next two weeks and have him behind me until baby comes. He's bound to drive me crazy where I can't see him behind me. Oh well!

With my son my DH and I put it in two days before he was born whilst I was already in early labour!

I'm still a bit far from that point but i don't think i'm going to mess with it until i actually go in labor. I don't want it sitting in my truck and not being used. Or maybe by about a week before my due date i will put it in the back of my truck (tahoe) so its already there.
With both my DS and DD my hubby just grabbed it as we walked out the door to head to the hospital. We'll see, no real plan right now
