Hi ladies,
My LO is 5 weeks old, breastfed and normally wakes about 3.30-4am for her first feed. Up to now I've been changing her after her feed every night. The past 2 night I've noticed that the nappies are pretty dry and there's no poo in them so I was thinking of stopping this change as it wakes her back up after she was nice and sleepy from her feed. Also it tends to make her windy and sicky being on her back so soon after a feed but I can't do it before as she cries and I'm scared of waking my toddler. Is she a bit too young to stop it? I'm worried she'll leak and wake up again or she'll get nappy rash. Can't remember when I stopped with dd1. When did you drop the night time change??
Thanks!!

DD started sleeping through at 3 weeks and I never woke her to change her. She was always fine. If your LO seems dry then I wouldn't worry about changing her

I change my baby's nappy just before bed at about 22:30 (she sleeps in my arms prior to that) and by 05:00 or so her nappy is bulging and needs to be changed again.

Soon as she started sleeping through I stopped the change but this was at 4 weeks. I'd say of the nappy isn't very wet then don't change it...they are designed for up to 12 hours anyway. Obviously if there's any time it's very wet, Ud be better to change it to avoid a sore bum, but a small pee I don't think it's worth interrupting sleep x

As soon as my little boy stopped pooping at night I stopped changing him as it just unsettled him and made him harder to get back to sleep. As someone else said nappies are designed to last up to 12 hours

As soon as they started sleeping better, I stopped changing it as long as they hadn't pooped after/during the feed.

As soon as she stopped pooing in the night. I stopped changing her at night around 6 weeks. Sometimes she needs changing around 5am if she has pooed or is bulging but generally not. It hasn't given her a rash and no leaks. It means she goes straight back to sleep after a feed!

I stopped changing at night when she stopped pooing in the middle of the night x

When dd stopped pooping i mostly stopped. I only change it now if she's really wet at her 3am feeding.

I stopped once he stopped pooping at night. He now goes 10 hours overnight without a change and we never get leaks.

Like everyone else, as long as its not dirty or bulging I dont change it. But at her last diaper change before she goes down for the night I do slather on the jelly just as a preventative. No rashes at all and shes 11 weeks.

I agree I use Desitin on her bum on the last change right before bed. 5 months and no rashes

At around 3 months as she was sleeping better and stopped pooping in the night.

Still change my DDs she seems to wee ALOT in the night! So at her 3am bottle I normally change her.

Thanks everyone :) going to try not changing it tonight and see how she goes. The night feed is taking ages at the moment so hopefully this will speed it up and stop her waking up fully xx

I tried dropping the night time nappy change the other night but she just ended up waking up earlier than normal (I normally feed her til she falls asleep, then change her which wakes her back up, then feed her to sleep again) so I've gone back to doing it. It only takes a few mins and means we get an hour or so more sleep so I'd rather do that! I'm just glad my LO has got to the stage where she doesn't need to poo every 5mins! I used to have to wake her up before the change so she could poo (learned THAT the hard way!)
