When does the 2nd trimester start?

I feel some people jump over at 12 weeks, some at 13, and others at 14 weeks. Anyone know when it truly starts? To me, 13 weeks is 1/3 of 39 weeks, so that sounds right to me?

Yes, but that means the entire 13 weeks (ie 13+6), which would mean second tri starts at 14+0. But whenever you want!

I am confused myself, but I guess it does not really matter... it is just a division.

According to my midwife it's 12+6 so 13 weeks.

It just depends on where you live. Pregnancy being 40 weeks long is just an estimate, it's why they let you go to 42 weeks

My dr. said every 3 months starts a new tri. so 13 weeks would begin the next 3 months so I say thats when second tri starts.
