When is safe to try again??

I've heard so many things about when it's alright to start trying again after a miscarriage - from 1 month to 3 months to 1 year. I'm sure it depends on a lot of things, what have you heard?

Baby measured 6.5 weeks (I had an ultrasound at 9 weeks and we discovered it then, everything passed naturally the following week), this was my first pregnancy, therefore my first miscarriage. I will have been exactly 4 weeks since the heaviest bleeding yesterday (4/3). My doctor recommended waiting until after my first cycle to try to conceive again...but said nothing about how long to wait for intercourse (w/out trying to conceive) I didn't think of asking when I was talking to my doc. Thoughts??

My dr said "pelvic rest" (no sex, nothing in the vagina, no baths, etc.) until the bleeding stops and the wait to TTC until after the first full AF. When I asked about TTC before the first AF, she said well we're supposed to say wait until the first AF, but I didn't have to dilate you much (I had a D&C) and you were early (5.5 weeks), so it's fine if you want to try before the first AF. Hope this helps!

Yes, that does help, thanks! Did your doctor say anything about having sex (not necessarily to conceive) before AF though?

My doctor said that sex is fine after the bleeding stops.
