Going by time windows has helped a lot in our case for naps. Right now, at 9 months, we're doing to the 2, 3, 4 trick which usually works well...

Sometimes though, naps fail; for whatever reason, she'll wake up after 15-30 mins. It just happened now lol. What do you do in the case? Would you still wait the full 2-3 hours (or whatever the appropriate time window is) before putting them down again? Or would you do it sooner since the nap didn't last?

I usually shorten the next wake time a bit if that happens. If it's happening regularly, you might want to consider extending wake times. As Charlotte got older I found that she napped better when we did something more like 3/3.5/4 instead of the traditional 2/3/4.

Thanks Noelle - around what age did you begin extending the wake times at?

I go by his mood. If he's super cranky I will put him down a bit earlier.

Anyways Rhys is 13 months old and is still mostly on a 2-3-4 schedule though it can vary just a bit. He gets up anywhere from 5 :coffee: to 7 :yipee: though the latter is far and few between :haha: (usually between 6-6:30). He goes down for his first nap at 9 and can sleep anywhere from 45 minutes to 3 hours. Average is 1.5 hours though. And he goes down for a short afternoon nap at 2 (so up from 10:30ish or 11 until 2) and he is almost always up from that nap within 45 minutes of going down.

We tried to do one long nap but I find he's still to tired in the mornings and pushing it back was terrible
