I am 8wks pregnanct and currently visiting my mum for a week as dH is workig away. Anyways, i have a private early reasurrance scan tomorrow to see if everything is ok (My first pregnancy was a mmc, i had told my parents and immediate family about this pregnancy so even more ppl to be upset).

My last pregnancy went fine, i had an early scan at 7wks with that one and told my mum and dad only after that. However then i was under pressure from them to tell my brother!! but managed to get them to keep shtum until the 12wk scan.

So the question is, should i tell my mum and ask her to keep it to herself or wait until after my scan tomorrow or should i indeed wait until after the 12wk scan?? The other dactor is my brothers wife has just given birth to their second baby so i don't want to be stealing any thunder!

What do you think i should do?

I think I would tell her after your scan tomorrow. As for your brother and new baby, you won't be stealing any thunder from a new born hunny iyswim - babies always hog the limelight! I hope you see what I mean - tho your news is so exciting so is the new born to your mum! She is going to be over the moon by all of the news ((hugs))

Yeah, the newborn is my brothers so my mums youngest grandchild at the moment.

i'm excited and dying to tell but at the same time scared in case there is something wrong and then she'll be upset.

Bless your heart I think we all try to protect family from bad news but if the worst was to happen you'd need your mum - I should listen to this myself as I haven't told my parents yet!! I had a mc at 12wks in 2005 after 3.5y ttc, they knew :-( I went on to have a healthy baby - now I'm pg again I know they are going to be anxious but I really should tell them soon, I wish I had a scan booked because I would tell them after that (((hugs))) to you hunny, do what you feel us right for your situation!

thats the thing, if there was something wrong i would need want to tell her. We are close and i know i would want to talk to her about it!!

decisions decisions, maybe if i just busy myself today i'll forget all about it and hopefully have good news to tell tomorrow!!

You will have good news!!! Enjoy your weekend :-)

There's no way i could wait until 12wks for the scan!! I have one booked for next week but all of a sudden have become very impatient and need to know right now so managed to get one for tomorrow

Good luck to you too, i'm sure everything will be just fine:hugs:

We're waiting until after 12 weeks this time, only because when we were pregnant last time I asked my Mum and Dad not to tell anyone until after the scan but then I found out they had told other people which upset me. This time they can start shouting it from the roof tops as soon as they know because I'll be nearly 14 weeks and had the scan.

It has been hard though, I believe I have a noticable baby bump already and I've already had an emotional breakdown in front of them where I couldn't stop crying! :-)

I know i can definitely trust her not to tell if i say not to but she might feel bad then keeping in from my dad!!! hmm!!

I've kept it to myself this long whats another day!! actually one more day is a really looong time lol :D x

i told my mum as soon as i found out. i figured that if something did go wrong then at least i would have her support :-) good luck with what ever you decide x

I don't want wait either but nhs won't give me an early scan :-( trying to book a private one as we speak xx

With both pregnancies I told my mother right away! So far we have only told my parents and DH's parents and it will stay that way until after my first doctor appointment. I just know that if anything were to happen those would be the first people we would lean on for support.
Good luck hun and congrats!!! xxx
