My son is 8 months old and has a head full of hair already. On the sides it has grown over his ears and in the back it is getting long too. It drives me crazy and it looks so messy to me. Is he too young to have his hair cut? Can I bring him to a men's barber shop and have them do it? How do I go about it? Should I leave it?

I am confused. :dohh:

Mine needs a haircut pretty soon too. There are babies at his daycare who had had haircuts around his age. We are planning to take him to a barbershop especially for kids and babies. You may want to see whether there are any of those in your area.

Violet doesn't have a full head of hair yet, but she has some really long hair and some really short hair. I want to trim the long hairs to match the short hairs, but my husband thinks we should leave it so we are. When it comes in more, I'm going to trim it up myself... Not that she's a boy, but I'd go about it the same with a boy.

I've always trimmed Thomas myself, I first cut his hair when he was 9 weeks. Sophie has one 3 inch hair and all the rest is pretty stumpy, so no worries about haircuts with her lol!

My LO is 10.5 months old and had his first haircut about 2 weeks ago. It was so long and getting in his eyes! I'm a hairdresser so did it at home, in front of the telly with a rice cake in his hand! You could take him to a hairdressers, they should let him sit on your knee (although you'll get pretty hairy!), or you could give it a go yourself at home? I can give you some basic tips if you'd like? Xx

My lo had his haircut around 9 months OH took him to the barbers he goes to.

I'm not cutting my boy's... I love longish hair on little boys, I think it's so cute! I want him to be a little surfer dude xxx

My LO needs a haircut, I'm so nervous though! But it's in his eyes and getting really long too! Will have to grow a pair and cut it soon :haha:

I am too scared to do it at home! LOL

I cut my dog's hair once and knicked her ear so I am deathly afraid to cut my son's hair. I guess I will bring him to the barbers and have it done. I have a kid's hair salon I bring my DD too and then there is a nice one in the mall that work with kid's and adults.

Yeah, after my first experience trying to cut LO's nails, I'm not going near his head with a pair of sharp scissors! He's a wiggly one. Leave that to the experts.

I've cut Ashley's hair about 5 times and he's due number 6. Cut it when you think it needs cutting. I've done it myself but my friends take theirs to the hairdressers or the barbers.

I always cut my boys' hair really short when they get to about 9 months or so, I find that is peak time for cradle cap as well so it makes it easier to deal with. My second youngest never had his hair cut between then and a few weeks ago (he is nearly 2.5) xx

My LO is only 12 weeks, but his old-man horseshoe of hair (the top is so thin but the sides and back are thick and long) are getting SO long now. The back is already almost 2 inches long and going down his neck. He has a baby mullet!

I feel like i should wait MONTHS before trimming it, but i dont know how ridiculous its going to look by then. (And I'm too scared to trim it myself. Definitely going to a baby barber when the time comes. luckily there is one in the shopping mall about 10 minutes from us)

I gave my lb a hair cut around 4 months and again around 7 months. He was born with a full head of hair but then lost it round the sides and back, but the top grew really long. It looked like a ridiculous toupe so I trimmed the top. Now the sides and back have grown back through so I am just letting it grow out.

We took my Son at around 6.5 months. His baby hair was a joke and was around 4 inches at the top and the same at the sides but the back was like 2cm! Luckily my partners friend owns a barbers so I wasn't worried about him being young. I would just call in advance and ask, I know that a baby shop near me does hair cuts so may be worth asking locally?

Haha my oh wants me to cut lo's hair and oh's brother wont shut up about cutting it because its sooooo long! But i love it. I think he looks adorable witg long messy hair <3 i am adamant about not cutting until he's one. Im not sure why i have a set time, its just what i wanna do. I dobt think hes too young though.

My boy has very fine hair still, long on top and at the back but sparse on the sides. I decided I don't want to cut his hair and I'm going to let it grow out but I might be whistling a different tune if his hair was getting in his eyes.
