When to get the playmat out?

Oh my son had that one and I didn't even buy it him until he was 3 months. Lily was into hers from about 8 weeks but again she has always been very alert x

I have he star gaze (I think) one front m&p. UTStarcom hsvr lights and music along with flashing toys. My lo has loved UTStarcom since about six weeks. As he gets older I just hand different sorts of toys to it every day.

We use ours now. He gets really excited by the lights and sounds, kicks like crazy and stares in fascination at all the hanging toys. We have to be careful not to overstimulate him, though. When he's on the mat, he tends not to cue when he has had enough.

My LO used hers from about a week old. I put a couple of the black and white baby books around the edges and she used to love staring at them. From early on she seemed to enjoy kicking around on the mat. Like everyone has said, it depends on the baby.

We started around 8 weeks putting her on it everyday. She didnt really do much and then one day she just started batting at the toys. It was around 10/11 weeks that literally one day she didnt do anything and then the next day she tried to bat at the toys. its crazy!

I bought the baby einstein ocean babygym a few weeks ago and my little man loves it! He will be there for half and hour listening to the music and lights and trying to grab at things cooing away.

I would say around 4 weekish

We had a playmat baby gym thing with dangling toys but LO was never really interested, I couldn't put her down until she was around 4-5 months old! All babies are different though, mine only enjoyed it from around 4-5 months but I know a lot of babies start earlier

This is the same with us, she really only started to be interested in it when she could sit up on her own and play with her toys on it. When she was only laying down she wasn't fussed about it at all.

EDIT: Play *gym* (where they lay down and have dangling toys above their head) she used from about 10 weeks, play mat was what I referenced above.
