For those that put a waterproof mattress protector on their beds, when did you do this? I've bought one today and was thinking next weekend when I hit 37 weeks.

I think you should put it on as soon as really, your full term at 37 weeks so anything could happen, so best to be safe!!

Our mattress is worth alot (not that we paid much for it due to handy friends working in the bed business) but its worth over a grand so I'll be putting one on from 36/37 just to be on the safe side.

Good idea. I hadn't actually considered the value of the mattress. Not sure landlord would be too happy if the ineviatable happened in the night and there was no mattress protector on!

Random question, but are they quite sweaty? I remember having this horrible mattress protector once made of 100% nylon and I kept waking up in fits of sweats. Was awful. :dohh:

I never really thought about this... but now i think I may buy one for the bed. We just bought our bed and it cost us over three grand and I don't want to mess it up. SCARY!! Must talk to hubby about this one!!

Ive put something down under the sheets when I changed the bedding this evening. Its no bother and though hoping for later rather than sooner you just never know.

We have a matress topper that needs replacing so that wont be the end of the world. Ive put down a disposable changing mat with a big towel folded into four over the top.

My sisters waters went when she was in bed and she had nothing down on it :dohh:

spoke to hubby about this... he was like eeeeewww nasty then it will get all over me too.... LOL I told him i could just wear a nappy at night time. hahaha

I had mine on from 36 weeks. Was glad I did as waters broke this morning on the bed!

Im putting mine on tonight, have a tempur matress, its lush, and dont want to ruin it! hehe!

May pop it on tonight then just to be safe.

Thank you everybody! :hugs:

Got mine about a week ago, it was on offer at the time for £15.

Its not as bad as I thought it would be, can hardly tell its there! x

I have the maternity mats from boots as I'd never sleep on a waterproof sheet. I am planning to put mine down at 36wks x

yea i saw the maternity mats and thought about using them in my car incase i go on there.... then i will make sure i kit the bed out as well.

well after reading this thread im putting mine on tomorrow, i have a cover, but just in case im putting a black bag, then puppy training pads, then a towel and the cover... as someone else on here said my mattress is worth more than the bed, and my sofa is the most expensive thing in the house so will do anything to protect them..

I think I'm going to wear depend diapers!! lol because my bed is worth alot and it's a cal-king size so I can't seem to find a water proof sheet for it.

£3.00 in Tesco. Not expensive at all. They do single, double and king sized.

Edit: Just saw you live in Aus so not much help! They can be picked up cheaply I'm sure from your supermarket.
