Bought some today then read the label and says to start from 2nd trimester. Have any of you started yet?

I was using mines on my face and stopped just because it said not to use till 2nd tri. So I guess im not going to use it at all till then, anywhere.

No but I have been using body shop body butters sinbce i got my BFP after every bath/shower and concentrating on BBs and tummy area.

Be interested to see what others say as I am planning to get some bio oil once i start to show more

I'm getting some palmers cocoa butter this week and starting straight away

I've started using mine on my boobs as I've noticed some marks and they're growing fast. (big boobed anyway). I don't think there's a 'wrong' time to start it.

I started as soon as I got a BFP both times. Oh and no stretchmarks whatsoever with first...and its too early right now...so FX'd it works for me this time around! :)

I started as soon as got my bfp cos it helps me stop itching. Swore by it with my ds & didn't get any stretchmarks, determined not to this time around either!x

I didn't know that bio oil should be used only in 2nd trimester , thanks for sharing. I was planning to get it too. I am using organic almond oil so far. During first pregnancy i was using coconut oil and it didn't help at all :( i have so many stretchmarks...but baby was big enough - 4100kg..so this time I've started now, when i am just 5 weeks. Olive oil is good too! you may add vitamine E (just few drops).

on my bio oil bottle it says use twice a day from first trimester so ive been using it once a day so far. my friend swears by it she used it and had no stretch marks! xxx

It only says to use it in 2nd tri because it unlikely to make much of a difference in first tri. Its not harmful or anything if you want to use it right away.

That said, Ive been told that if you are going to get them then no cream/oil or whatever else will stop them. Ugggg. x

For you Palmers users - just wanted to say that I used the Palmers Cocoa Butter with both of my previous pregnancies, and it did absolutely no good, as I have a ton of stretch marks anyway. Hoping that the Bio oil will make a difference this time!

I've heard a couple of my friends say the same thing about Palmer's. Apparently it's best used after pregnancy, and not during, because it tightens the skin and can actually increase the amount of stretch marks.

Does anyone know how much better Bio Oil is than baby oil? I've heard friends suggest baby oil, but if Bio Oil is better by a lot, it might be worth the extra money. Does anyone know anything on this? Trying to figure out if I can just use baby oil. lol

Also, Drinking lots of water will help reduce the amount of stretch marks you get, and gaining only the suggested amount of weight.

I think it's just a suggestion, as you don't really grow much in your first tri

you are right, but it depends on the skin. I feel like mine needs to be moisturized from the beginning! HAving so many stretches during my first pregnancy made me think to use it from the first weeks..

From what I read the first time I was pregnant, stretch marks are caused by the skin under your top layer of skin (2nd layer) ripping. Apparently the best way to prevent stretch marks is to eat tons of protein and drink loads of water.

I'll be honest I did eat ALOT of chicken etc when I was pregnant with the twins and to this day I don't have one stretch mark. Although I did use Avon dry oil on my bump when it was getting big :) xx

I also bought bio-oil and Palmers. The bio-oil says to start in your first trimester so I started at 9 weeks. I use oil in the am and coco butter in the pm.

I know this is an old post but just thought I'd let you know that I have recently queried this with bio oil company.

I have a bottle from last yr which says "use from first trimester", the website and new packaging now says use from "start of second trimester".

I queried with bio oil as I have been using it since 5 weeks as as per my bottles instructions I thought that was the right thing to do, their first respnse did not answer why the instructions had changed just confirmed that now they say from 2nd trimester. I am awaiting a response as to whether use in first trimester is now considered unsafe etc as obviously a little concerned as to why they have changed the instructions!
Although now in my second trimester I have stopped using it until they reply

Thanks for that Fleebie. Please let us know if you receive a response as I was planning on starting to use bio oil from later this week or next week. :flower:

I wonder if it's fear of litigation, if someone in 1st tri had massaged it in and then something happened. Same as some spas not giving massages to ladies in 1st tri.
