So far I've invested in clothes from Asad (George), Next baby, Matalan, Mothercare, Marks and Spencer, Debenhams, Primark.. That's all I can think of at the moment.

But I'm finding that other than looking at the same stores online, every store has the same selection! I'm not too sure about buying from E-bay, only reason being that you can't see the condition before, it's a gamble. Are you for or against bootsales? I have no real preference, as long as the clothes are in good condition.

I've also had about 8 cardigans knitted by my old lady friends! =)

I've got Tommee Tippee bottles from Asda baby event, and a grooming kit from Tesco (Tommee Tippee) - A Tommee Tippee sterilizer from a friend, and that's all I have other than clothes!

Where are you getting your bits from? I need inspiration, but without spending a huge amount.

I have SO much in 0-3 months, not so much in new born.
Is it worth getting 'Up to 1 month' clothes?
Does anyone else think Newborn clothes look quite large?! I was shocked!

Also, how many are you getting of;
Muslin?
Scratch Mitts?
Socks?
Booties?
Hats?
Bibs?
Blankets?
Towels?
etc?

ADD ON;

What are you planning on dressing your baby in? The only clothes that seem to be on sale for newborns are baby grows, sleep suits etc. Any need to dress in trousers/leggings etc?

Honestly, I probably won't buy a whole lot of clothes for the simple fact that's usually what most people buy for baby showers (in the US). What I'll end up buying most of will probably be the little sleepers, onesies, etc. and I'll most likely get those second-hand at garage sales or something since I know babies go through a BUNCH of them. Same with the receiving blankets, burp rags, etc.

Its going to be fall/winter when I have my little guy so I'll probably get him some little snow suits and such. I don't see much of a need for fancy clothes just yet for him unless I want to do pictures, holidays, etc then I'll dress him up for it.

ive brought all second hand clothes and they have been beautifull . Off ebay and off local sale and swap sites xx

i will be buying from mother care and asda mainly and i wil probably have a look in next-really nice baby stuff in there!

I will mainly buy 0-3 months and probably get a few newborn clothes, and then if i need a lot more i will buy more when the baby is here!
And yes to all the below i plan on getting scratch mits etc...

Also, if its a girl i will probably put her in little dresses with tights etc if its a boy mainly baby grows until hes a month or so old, then cute little outfits NOT jeans though as they dont look very comfortable!:)

So far, all I've bought are 3 little newborn undershirts (which I think will be handy when baby still has a cord stump) and some cloth diapers. When I find out gender in a few weeks, I'll buy a few little gender-specific outfits just for fun.

I really expect a lot of hand-me-downs and grandma purchases though. So far, I've gotten hand-me down crib, stroller, 2 car seats (different sizes), baby bath, high chair, toys, and clothes. My mom loves yard sales (so do I), and has bought a ton of cute baby clothes, a newborn car seat that attaches to stroller, baby bouncer, and lots of other odds and ends. Everything is in great condition, but of course I gave it all a good hot wash, and will wash again before baby gets here.

I plan on soft, non-fancy clothes for the first few months at least; sleepers, onsies, etc. They spend so much time sleeping, and are so floppy at that age, so I want comfortable clothes. Also, I just think they are cuter and more natural looking in soft clothes.

Next and ASDA for me I think. Seen a few cute things in Mothercare. I will be going down the sleepsuit/cardy route. I hate babies in small adult clothes.

This!

They're in them for such a short amount of time they hardly get any wear which is good for buying on eBay, I bought maybe one or two brand new outfits but they're so expensive brand new!
Eg: I saw a little out fit I liked in next for £20 I went on eBay found it and won it for £6 it's immaculate :)

I am in the middle of washing my stuff so i was counting them out

Muslins -1 pack as i dont know if we would use them

Scratch mitts- 1 pack of three mittens for same reason and i found a lot of my baby grows have them built in esp the ones from mothercare

Sock- i have about 20 pairs of socks as babys always loose them and he will have them on instead of shoes for a while.

Booties- i dont like the look of them but my mam has bought about 3 pairs

Bibs- ive got about 15 of these

Blankets- ive only bought 1 as all the old people i know have decided to knit some. I have bought 2 swaddles though

Towels - 3

Some things i didnt think of til last minute was bottle lids for when you take water out with you to make formula as you cant put the teat on. Dummies if you plan on using them. Burp clothes. Ive also bought a fair few sheets for pram, moses basket and cot as im assuming they will need to be changed quite often.

I have bought mostly 0-3 i have about 5 newborn things but as my mam explained to me the shops wont shut when ive had him so i can go out and buy more 😊 but its soo easy to get carried away hahaha

Oo someone told me to buy a few cheap sleepers that you don't mind throwing for the first couple of days as things can get very messy in the babys bowel department and you dont want to be wasting nice clothes on that. Hope ive helped? X

Don't forget that H&M has got baby and maternity clothes. Nice ones too! :flower:

I buy from some of the places you mention and have also had some second hand from ebay which are fab and some not as described so I tend to go for nwt from ebay. I brought some in newborn as evwn though my lg was 8lb 1oz she was in newborn for about a mnth.

I found sleepsuits work best for first couple of mnths specially whwn taking lo to get weighed. I also wont bother with pram shoes or booties this time as just used socks and mittens never worked for us, I put socks on her hands. Lol.

Xx

So far I have been given all of the equipment I need from friends/family. I also have lots of clothes from when my son was little, I'm having a girl this time but not too fussed about putting her in boy's clothes.

Most of the clothes I buy for my son are online, I hate going in to towns and cities! The websites I buy from are Boden, Jojo Maman Bebe, Gap and Frugi.... they have really good sales too :) I also buy from ebay, as a pp said they're not in them for long so they're generally okay although I do tend to steer away from bundles.

I still need to get a few blankets, sleepsuits, muslins and nappies..... We went through loads of muslins they're great for everything from cleaning to lying them down on for nappy changes and sunshades on prams x

Hulahoop, I agree with socks on the hands :haha: They stay on much better than mittens!

Have you seen the list in the mothercare booklet? I think it might be online too. I defo won't be wasting money on diddly outfits this time as they are just uncomfy for LO. Will wait until they are born and get some sleep suits etc in. H&m had great trousers in with a wide waistband that was lovely and soft. Xxx

I'm not buying any outfits for the early weeks/months, just loads of vests and sleepsuits/onesies. Baby will be sleeping so much I just want them to be comfy, and need changing so much there's no point putting them in cute little outfits that will get ruined or be difficult to change them in and out of.

I've found loads of great bargains on eBay, I was wary of buying baby stuff on there but there are so many brand new things on there as people don't have chance to put their baby in stuff before they're too big, or get bought far too many clothes as gifts so they just end up on eBay unworn. You can always wash them yourself to make sure they're very clean too.

You cannot have to many muslins!! I think it's ok to wait and see what you use when the baby arrives as you might have more of an idea what you will/won't need rather than washing money on things you don't need. Babygro's and vests/ muslins/ nappies are all things you can't have too many of. But if you have a big baby they may not fit into smaller clothes so good to see what happens when they arrive. I buy loads of stuff at bat boots and on eBay, babies go through clothes so quickly lots of them are barely worn

Just a note on Ebay, since some people have mentioned things sometimes not being as described. I've gotten a few things not as described, but have always been able to work it out with the seller. You really shouldn't have to lose out if someone does not describe their item properly.

I bought a bunch of cloth diapers that were supposed to be in "excellent used condition", which means practically brand new. But actually the elastic was totally relaxed and I had to replace it to make the diapers usable. Rather than pay to ship the diapers back to her, I just asked to have half of my money refunded, since I only would have paid half of what I did, had I known the condition. She was happy with that and so was I. People really don't want to get a negative feedback, so will usually work with you.

I just hit places like Target, Walmart, Once Upon A Child for my baby clothes. No chance on me spending an arm and a leg on baby stuff when it will be puked, pooped, and peed on :haha: not to mention how insanely fast they outgrow them. I also only buy onesies, sleepers, blanket sleepers, comfortable little pants, socks, and maybe a couple little outfits for pictures or something. I don't go all out and dress them to the nines. I want them to be comfortable. With my first baby though I spent a ton, wanted everything..and bought it haha!

I have bought most of my equipment (bottles, toiletries, food processor, nappies and the Moses Basket with stand) from Asda in the Baby Event as you get a good deal. I plan to get a few more things there in the next one.
Have got vests new from George at Asda and F&F at Tesco. Oh and one from Baby Gap just because it says 'I love Grandma' or something along those lines. I have bought little items of clothes from various places when I've seen them (Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury's, Next, M&S, Baby Gap and the little stall on our local market).

Have got a few little outfits second hand from my local swap site, they would have cost over £50 brand new from Next and got them for £6 and they're in great condition.
I will also get £50 worth of the clothes from H&M because I have a gift card for there :)

I plan to get my muslins and swaddle blankets from TK Maxx as they're gorgeous and reasonably priced. I might get a few clothes from there too. I'll also be going on local swap sites, Ebay and to our local car boot :)
