As it says above where do i buy a birthing ball? What are they supposed to help with?

You should be able to get them in Argos, think they're supposed to help baby drop down into your pelvis

Thanks i'll try them! Do you just buy one of those fitness ones?

Thanks Ladies! Tesco or Argos here I come!!

I would just add if you are fairly tall try out a larger one (75cm) they are more expensive but i found the standard (65cm) ball was too small for me - i'm 5'7"

xx

I got mine in Argos and it was mega cheap!

I'm on it right now haha. I find it much more comfortable to sit on than the couch these days, and they're supposed to help the baby get into a good position for labour!

Yup I have this one too and so does a lady in my yoga class :)

In yoga we use them for lots of things: just kneeling and using it to rest on, kneeling over and stretching forwards and backwards to stretch our backs (and apparently a good position for when in labour). I also use mine when i have a bit of pelvic pain after a long day, I find it helps get the baby weight off it:)

I'm 5'4 and find this ball to be perfect; just ever so slightly too big when fully pumped up!

I bought one in Asda just last night for £6 and it's a good sized one. Was advised to me after a failed attempt at sweep due to posterior cervix. Gonna attempt using it today. If you don't have an electric pump it can take a while to blow them up though!

i got mine from sport and soccor world.. think its was £5

thanks for this thread! I was looking at getting one too so am now going to get the argos one!! :)

I'm not in the UK, but just wanted to add that I used one at the hospital when delivering right up until pushing stage. It worked best for me out of all the options.

I wish I had one at home too as he wasn't in the best position for delivery, but that is another story!

Just wondering when you ladies started using the ball? I'm suffering from sciatica and Im currently 28 weeks. Im thinking of getting one soon just to ease the pain and numbing also something different to sit on.. is it to early to sit on it now?

I just got a normal fitness ball off Ebay for 99p whatever you do dont go for anything that says maternity or birthing on it or you will pay the price for the exact same thing. :flower:

i started to use mine at 24 weeks i think..... seriously helped me no end
