Where is the placenta?

Just trying to figure out where the placenta is. I've circled two spots I think it could possibly be, but it could also be neither of those places and hiding somewhere else completely.
I was 7+6 at the ultrasound. Baby measured 8 weeks. Abdominal ultrasound if that matters.

Possibility 1: I'm sure it's not the yolk behind its head. We did see the yolk and it wasn't there.

It's my understanding that there wouldn't be a placenta yet at 8 weeks. There would be a yolk sac.

The placenta starts forming when the baby does, shortly after implantation, around week 4. It's not fully formed until 12 weeks, but it is definitely on its way at 8 weeks. Won't take over until 12 weeks when it is fully formed.

the placenta looked huge on my older ultrasounds but the sonographer was a private sonographer, not someone who does medical stuff. they didnt tell me what direction it was but im sure ill find out on jan 8 at my 20 week first official ultrasound.

Hun you won't see the placenta on ultraaound till about 12 weeks before that you will see the yolk sac

I'm nearly 9 weeks and can clearly hear the placenta over my babies heartbeat so I would say that possibility no.2 would be the placenta. At 9 weeks it starts to take over from the corpus lutem so would surely be attached to the uterine wall prior to this? X

My doctor said it starts forming when the baby does and all the research ive done shows this too. So by 8 weeks the placenta should be visable. It doesn't takebover until it is formed a few weeks later though so the baby has a placenta ad a yolk sac. I just forgot to ask her where it was. I was leaning toward 2 myself. Thanks

I've read consistently that the placenta takes over hormone production any time from 9 weeks!
