Just thought I'd ask this to the mums who has been there before. I'm curious to see where it all has taken place. I didn't think about them breaking while being in bed or anything as someone on another theard was talking about buying a mattress protector for their bed.

Just put my leg onto the bed at midnight to climb in and go to sleep and whooooooooosh!

DD#1 I was on the toilet having a poo

DD#2 I was minutes away from giving birth, 1st push and WOOSH, the flood cometh :)

I was induced but my waters broke at 4cm when I was in the bath... with a big gush, and I couldnt get back out hahahaha, I can laugh about it now!!! x

Mine broke this morning on the bed! I went to the toilet, came back and sat on the bed and had a gush! Luckily I had mattress pad and towel on the bed (under the bottom sheet). The ones I bought were these: https://www.boots.com/en/Boots-Maternity-mats-5-pack_924022/ (only £3.99). Would definitely recommend as it meant we only had to wash the bottom sheet. Just waiting for the contractions to really get going now!!!

just got out of bed for loo, and they went!

Awww interesting to know what people say to this one! I have brought a waterproof matress protector just in case but also worry it will happen when I am out and about in shops! x

Mine broke as I was labouring in bed - and they went with a "pop" - but didn't really make a mess.

another question.... how much liquid is it when your waters do break?

I had little drops on my undies for a few days, thought I was peeing myself (typical 3rd tri, LOL), turns out it was the waters. OBGYN broke waters Sunday night but didn't do it right, another OBGYN did it again the next morning! Ugh! I wish mine just went like normal!!

Ive never had a baby before and i find all of it quite scary!!!! hahah

No experience yet as this is my first LO.

What do your waters look like? For those who 'drip', how do you distinguish between wee, discharge or waters?

Hi hun, my waters broke at home. My oh had literally walked through the door after finishing work. I managed to say hi, oh I need a wee and they went just as I got to the loo.

For me, I had what felt like a huge amount of water. To be honest it was like a waterfall, it just kept gushing out of me. I soaked through 3 sanitary pads in minutes. When I got to hospital to get checked over, I'd soaked through another pad and looked liked I'd wet myself too. luckily I'd taken my hospital bag with me for just in case and was able to get changed once I'd been checked over to come home in.

Well, mine was not such a great situation as I confused waters with pee, and even though I was group B strep positive, my waters had leaked for several days without attention!!

Basically, it's nearly impossible to tell unless you get "right down there" and sniff! Amniotic fluid (in small drips) is just like nothing. Pee is pee! If you still aren't sure, you put on a maxi pad and after an hour or so you can bring it in and the hospital does a simple drip test that will tell them.

This is useful to know - thanks ladies :)

Also, how many weeks were u when your waters went with 1st DD / DS??

:) x

Mine went during labour, I was sitting on the toilets with legs wide open saying my baby is falling out of me as my membranes were bulging  my waters then proceeded to cover midwife as she bent down to have a look... There was an awful lot :) my belly then went nearly flat and you could see outline of baby..

40+1 (Friday), went to the hospital at 40+3 (oops) Sunday for artificial breaking of waters and got induced, re-breaking of waters on Monday morning at 40+4, and had him at 40+6 (Tuesday)

My labour was exceptionally long but I didn't have any painful contractions until the Monday morning.
