Which car seat? from 12 months

We currently have the maxi cosi isofix car seat - suitable until 12 months.

We have an extra bit of money this month and rather end up wasting it on something we don't need I thought that we would get the next car seat now - which mean we won't end up having to find the money when we need to replace it.

I have heard that rear facing car seats are still better even when they over 12 months - but I can't seem to find many of these?

ANy recommendations?
