I've been advised by my midwife unit that it would be wise to purchase my own TENS machine (I know I can hire too, but I'm intending to use it more than just once!)

What TENS machines have you all got/bought/used before that you could recommend?

Is this one any good? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Tens-MamaT...UTF8&coliid=I1RPKFXPBJIDVF&colid=CVGATHB2D1ZE

Hi hun

I have used a few different Tens machines and would highly recommend the ELLE Tens, used it in 2 labours now and has taken me to 7-8cms with no pain relief - great boost button too :)

This is the link on Amazon hopefully it works https://www.amazon.co.uk/Elle-Tens-...3?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1327166315&sr=1-3-catcorr

Hope this helps xx

I have that one and it seems good (not used it in labour yet, just played around with it). My NCT teacher said that there isn't a lot of difference between them - just to look for one with a boost button - which this one has.

Annoyingly for you it was only £27.50 when I bought it a few months ago.. if you are brave enough, waiting another few weeks might see the price come down again.

Thank you ladies, I have the Elle on my wishlist too so it seems I may have chosen two good ones to begin with! Any other experiences out there please?

Not a recommendation but one to avoid (I found!) was the maternity one from lloyds. It is (I think) the cheapest maternity one on the market (bar amazon offers!), and I was told that they all do the same thing so just to go for the cheapest. I found that after about 4hrs all the wires fell out of the pads and it was useless - luckily I was about to go in the birthing pool but otherwise it could have been awful. So one to avoid!!

I was lucky enough to get the mama tens from amazon when it was on offer a few weeks back, I've heard really good things about it but have no personal experience. I would read the reviews on amazon maybe.

I used the ElleTENS one as well for my last labour, and would highly recommend it

I've got a mama tens, used it first time around and was great. I hired it first time for £30 but I managed to find a new one on amazon for £27.50 just before Christmas. Not sure if the offers still on but I would recommend that one xx

Thank you ladies. I have both of those you've recommended on my wishlist will wait a few weeks and see if either of them are reduced in price again :)
