Who is on SMP?

I was just wondering if anyone is on SMP and approx what you get each month after tax & NI?

Thanks. Does that vary majorly due to weeks in each month? I budgeted approx £530 so £20 out isnt too bad My tax code is 747L and I have only earnt just over 6k at the mo so hoping not too much tax & NI will be deducted. Lol.

Some months I may get £20 more (unsure why!) Last month I got £85 more!
Before maternity leave I only worked 2 days a week so my yearly wage is only £7500, I don't get much tax and NI taken off, maybe £8 in total.
This is my last month though before my SMP runs out and I don't get any money for 2 months

Yeah I went on the HMRC website and put in some details and it gives you an idea of what you would be getting each month/week before tax and because there are more weeks in some it works out at more. Lol. That sounds ok, hopefully mine wont differ much then!! Awww are you having the 3 months without pay? I wish I could do it but there is no way we could afford it unfortunately, unless I win lotto between now and then

Sorry to hijack!! can i just ask how you did this? I want to try and work out how much I will earn if I go back to work 3 days a week after tax ect,

want to make sure I can afford it before I ask my boss if I can do it!!

What I did was for maternity leave. But if you go here you can put how much you earn and it gives a spot on amount for how much you will pick up (its worked for mine and hubbys wages since april)

I got about £530 /£550 but don't forget child benefit which is approx £80 every 4 weeks for a first child

I was on 16k before and earned roughly £483 on SMP, the last few months of it were like £520+ though as I had less tax to pay on them? xx

aww i am dreading going back to work even though havent had baby yet. jst cnt decide how long to go back for as cant afford totally full time cause of oaying childcare. if i go back 30 hours over 3 days will have about 100 left a mnth for nappies and general spend. lol. xx

I started in October but had hols first so not quite sure exactly what date it started :-S It was about £483 until April then I got a tax rebate of about £100. Then from May, June, July I got £520 or £510, can't remember exactly!! xx

Ah man I hope mine isnt that little. Lol. I am on about 14.5k a year (maybe a little more). Up to when my maternity starts I will have earned just over approx 6k and my tax code is 747L so hoping not too much tax will be taken! On HMRC website some months it was saying I get £580 approx before tax!! Lol.

Before going on mat leave I earned approx £23k a year. My SMP after tax / insurace / pension / union membership is approx £470
