I'm so worried now, where I live (California USA) there is a whooping cough epidemic. It's symptoms start out just like a cold...runny nose, cough, sneezing...Well at the moment my Zachary has these symptoms, I've been thinking he just has a cold or allergies until last night on the news I heard about this epidemic, 900 cases! They are saying babies younger than six months are at the highest risk for catching this disease and most face life threatening complications! This is so scary

Have you been getting him vaccinated? The DTaP (diphtheria and tetanus toxoids and acellular pertussis vaccine) is given at 2,4 & 6 months in the US. The Pertussis part is the whooping cough vaccine.

Yeah he had his first round at two months and he has his second round next week (it was supposed to be this week but they had to reschedule) I'm still scared because they said babies younger than six months aren't fully immune.

Even that one shot gives him some protection. Not much else you can do, but try and minimize his exposure to anyone with a cough or cold.

My first had whooping cough and he was immunised. It was awful but the immunistaion he had for it probably saved him as he had that little protection. :flower:

Fingers crossed your lo just has a silly mild virus/cold.

:hugs:

I hope everything is okay. You've already given your LO some protection through the first injection. Keeping my fingers crossed for you x
