Im booked tomorrow to have this done. Just wondering if anyone had symptoms afterwards and does it hurt? I have a phobia with needles and have fainted when taken blood xxx

The actual injection does not hurt anymore than the flu jab or anything else. My arm was sore for a good week afterwards and the day after I was very tired and had mild flu symptoms. Baby was also quiet the day after that but that may have been coincidence

Aww thank you, so just a sore arm and feeling tired the next day :) xxx Aww thank you xxx (never had a flu jab, I try and avoid needles unless I need them ) xxxx

its just a 'sharp scratch' as they say, lasts literally a second or two and its over.. I dislike needles too, blood tests r my worst nightmare..i had a numb arm for a day or two after but no symptoms or reduced movement.. hope it goes well x

Good luck with it, I am the same as you with needles.
But I am still debating whether to have the jab or not...

Just wanted to agree with the other ladies...injeciton itself was pretty painless and no flu like symptons after...but my arm ached for 4 days...so make sure you get it done in the arm you don't sleep on!

x

Hey, I also have a needle phobia (which is weird as im covered in tattoos) but it honestly doesnt hurt if you dont tense up, if you relax then it wont hurt and will be done in a matter of seconds. I had a bit of a sore arm muscle for a couple of days but that was it, nothing else.

I don't really get funny anymore with needles, but I always feel them.

Well the whooing cough - went in and out and I didn't even feel it. I actually nearly accused the nurse of not doing it and duping me  LOL.

I got an achey arm for two days or so - difficult to sleep on it, but that was all. I felt fine in myself.

Thanks ladies :) I feel a lot better about having it done, I was umming and arring over having it but apparently my midwife told me that the whooping cough injection will go through to the baby and help build up immunity? Is that true, Im only having it done for the babies sake xx

Yes that's why they are offering it to pregnant women. Babies get a whooping cough immunisation at 8 weeks old (along with others) and therefore are at their most vulnerable from birth to 8 weeks and with the increase in the number of cases seen throughout the UK it's been offered to give baby some protection in the early days.

Ahh! I understand now :) Definitely want to protect him, saw a look toddler when I took my son to hospital a few months ago and she had whooping cough, definitely wouldn't want my son to have that :(xxx
