A thought occurred to me today..

My midwife asked me at 16 weeks what I was thinking of doing for antenatal classes. We were considering NCT as my mum's friend was meant to be paying for us to have a block of sessions with them but she forgot :dohh:

However, my midwife hasn't mentioned anything since..has anyone else discussed/booked theirs with the NHS?

I'm concerned that she thinks that I'll sort myself out but it's all fallen through and would still like to attend the NHS ones.

Hey I booked the nhs through my hospital but mine seems to be just one day all day?! I was under the impression it was over a few weeks but never mind.
I only just booked mine and im 22 weeks so im sure it will be fine if you do need to book them now x

she mentioned it on monday at my appointment, then a midwife did a home visit on tuesday and said she runs a course for 4 or 5 weeks in the centre round the corner, so im waiting for her to send me an invite to those ones

I am guesing I will ask at my next appointment at 24 weeks

iv too book mine at my 20 week scan as sometimes there can be too many ppl wantin them? best fone up and book them (Y) xx

a midwife asked me at my 24 week app last week if i was interested in taking any, i said yes, and she said when the other mw (my main mw) had organised them she would put me on the list. I dont know when that will be though, im guessing in the next couple of months though or she wouldnt have asked me :) i dont know what they do at them though - its the ONLY element of babies/birth i havent looked at, at all!!! x

My midwife booked my onto parentcraft classes at booking in appointment. we start in 4 weeks time every Wed night fro 6 weeks

^Similar.

I was booked into antenatal classes at my first booking in appt with MW. We opted for a June one, which is two full saturdays (instead of weeks of nightly classes) which works out well for DH, Mum and I...as we're all going :)

Hi hun, I booked my antenatal classes on Monday. I was given a phone number to ring to get them booked. It may be different for each area. I have two classes at my doctor's surgery which is a huge building and the third and final one is at the hospital, where I assume we may be shown round the labour ward. Each class last for two hours. Mine are in June as bump is due in July.

I was asked if my partner was coming with me so they could book him a seat. I said he couldn't come as we can't afford for him to take the time off work. They did say that he could turn up to the one held at the hospital though and he's said he's definitely coming to that one.

I'm quite excited about them but also slightly scared as it seems more real that we are actually going to have a baby.

Mine were sorted at the booking appt (I think around 12 weeks?)

I think they vary from area to area. Its a one day course here on a Saturday. My hubby can't get the particular Saturday off so I've got to try and change it when I see my midwife today. They book them so far in advance around here I'm not holding out much hope.... I think I would rather skip it completely than go without him x

Parentcraft classes were mentioned to me for the first time yesterday (25week midwife appt) and we are going to 3x2hr sessions in June. She recommended going in April but that one was already full, so anyone that has to call somewhere to book themselves in, I would recommend doing it sooner rather than later. They are in some childrens centre near where I live. There is also the option to book online to go for a tour of the hospital, but I don't think we are going to do that (I know it's going to be painful without going and hearing all the ladies screaming!!)!!

at my 25 week appointement i found out the couples antenatal was completely booked and i would have to go by myself, which i am really annoyed about!! also its a 5 week course and the 4th one is on my due date! if i were you i'd give them a phone and try and sort it out, i know its different in different areas so hopefully you'll get it sorted xx

I sent my forms off to be booked on after my booking appt as in my area they're few and far between and was told to book quickly. I heard nothing and it turned out I'd been left off the list! Which means I've already done mine as the May/June ones were booked out so had to do mine over the last 3 mondays. However we also booked NCT ones, again was difficult to get a course in my area due to demand, but it's all booked now and looking forward to them much more as I found parentcraft good for an informal get together and general chat, but there were no breathing exercises/practical advice/videos etc just 2 midwives chatting to a rather large group of people squished in a tiny room! But this is just the experiance of my area, I'm sure everywhere else will be good!

My booking appt was 8 weeks not 12 (baby brain!) This was when the class got booked

Saying all this, I saw midwife today and I told her I wanted to give birth at a different hospital so my class is now officially cancelled and I will have to sort it out through them instead x

Hmmm it's not looking good then. I've had nothing, not even a mention. I've just gone through my notes and there's nothing in there for booking them etc. I think I'll be calling the antenatal clinic in the morning and ask them what they can do.

I've emailed NCT in the meantime and asked if they can assist too.

I booked NCT classes. My midwife hasn't mentioned a single thing to me about antenatal classes so I just got on and sorted myself out.

I've just got myself a place on the NCT ones so I'm happy. I spoke to my antenatal clinic and they should have given me my form at my booking apt at 8 weeks!! Thanks for that.. NHS 0..

I've already booked mine hun, places are limited round here so i thought best to book in early so we get a place. Not till july though xxx
