I had my first blood work done on Monday (for Hiv, Heps, syphalis, blood group, etc) and was told to pick up the results by the end of the week and if there were any problems, they would be in touch. So I rang the clinic today to see if I could swing by for them and the receptionist said they had sent me a "recall" letter asking me to make another appt (I haven't received it yet). So I've made an appt for Monday lunchtime, but I still don't know the reason for it.
Does anyone know why they might have recalled me??
I'm trying to tell myself it might be for more bloods to compare hormone levels, but surely they would only do that if the first ones were low to start with??

Hi Gills26, try not to worry hun, I was rung and told to make appointment with doctor after I had my bloods done with all 4 of my previous pregnancies and it was because I was anaemic and I needed iron tablets. Maybe it's the same for you?

xx

Hey Zoella! Thanks for the reply! :flower: Would that make me feel feint? I have been feeling quite lightheaded since becoming pregnant (actually, I did have spells of lightheadedness prior to falling too). Well, I can deal with it if it's that! That's really reassurred me x

Yes! Definitely can make you feel faint. Also more tired and nauseous! Hope everything goes well at your appointment.

xxx

I also was going to say anaemia. It's extraordinarily common in pregnant women, so much so that there is an argument to say it is normal and not a deficiency at all!

Don't worry too much. She could easily still be calling you to get another blood sample to see the hormone rise.

Some docs just don't seem to get how they say things can make us anxious. My doc's receptionist left a message and when I called, she said my doctor wanted to see me right away but the receptionist was reluctant about me coming in that day because they were closing in 15 minutes and I was 20 minutes away. She went to ask my doctor if I can come in the following work day and the doctor said i need to get to the office right away, they would wait for me.

So I dropped everything I was doing and raced through traffic, panicking the whole way, DH was calling to ask what was wrong... Only to have the doc tell me my numbers were on the low side for my LMP but goes with when I told her I ovulated.

So as the story shows, doctors are weird sometimes.

Sorry im off topic and good luck i bet everything turns out fine
just notice our due dates are the same :)

I thougg you may be anaemic whilst reading that too!!! Probably to prescribe you with iron tabs. Have you been feeling faint, tired... Also being pale in the face is a sign. I wouldnt worry too much.. Theyd have had you in asap if it was anytging important xx

Call back and ask for your blood count. If its less than 12.5 then its anaemia. Ive had it countless times, I bet my bottom dollar thats what it is. x

I was recalled for anaemia in my first pregnancy :) try not to worry! I know I did back then!

This has really put my mind at rest - thanks girls! You're fab!! :flower:

Hi girls! So I thought I'd just update you in case anyone was wondering..
I went to the doctors today and my iron levels are too high!!. I've not heard of that before. She said she's going to make sure it's monitored, but she thinks it's probably just because I'm pregnant and it should sort itself out. She is not particularly worried about it. It should be in the range of 13-47 and mine is 51, so she has given me another referral to go with my 10wk blood test to check it again. They will keep monitoring it even after the baby and if it stays up they will test me for other reasons.
The other thing she said that bothers her is I'm not Hep B immune, so once the baby's born she wants me to get that. She also said I have slight protein in my wee, but she's not bothered about that either.
So all in all, everything is okay as far as the pregnancy is concerned. phew!! :)
