Why has she suddenly started refusing to go to sleep?!

Just over the last day or so as soon as I go to swaddle her or put the dummy in she is screaming and refusing to take the dummy.

She cant fall asleep without the dummy so has to be swaddled to so she doesnt push it out of her mouth.

I have had to leave her to cry for 5mins or so to get her to actually take the dummy then she goes straight to sleep!

But it is upsetting and distressing for me that for so long she has just peacefully taken the dummy and go to sleep.

What can I do to stop her setting off screaming every time?! It took me well over an hour to get her settled lastnight and it was supposed to be my relaxing night in with a friend :(

I feel horrid leaving her screaming but there is nothing else that will get her to realise she just has to take the dummy, I tried cuddling her lastnight and she was fine when I was holding her for a while then realise it was bed time and started screaming if I even put the dummy anywhere near her mouth!
Tried just not giving her the dummy but then she refused to go to sleep :(

maybe she doesnt want the dummy? we dont use a dummy for our LO. id try just swaddling her for a few nights, maybe even use the pupd method without a dummy.

she cant sleep without it though, and will scream and scream but when you go back in 5 mins later she will take it and drop off to sleep.
If you let her go quiet by herself she will wake at the slightest noise (door closing, next doors dog barking, loo flushing etc) but will sleep soundly with the dummy.

My LO is 15 weeks today and has been doing a similar thing for the past few weeks. He will be tired and will get very upset and scream before he goes to sleep (only in the day - not at night). It isn't even when he's overtired, just when he's tired at all. Although I hate it and he has been like it for over 10 minutes some times I keep telling myself it is another phase that will pass. He seems to need to cry and scream before he goes to nap!! I just continue to cuddle and rock/shush/pat him through it until he calms down.

Although it is horrible I would try and just go with the flow and continue as you are as she is taking the dummy and sleeping eventually. Caleb will sometimes scream at first when you offer him the dummy but if you persevere will take it! Makes no sense!
