Hi all,

I am 5 weeks pregnant and starting a new job in 2 weeks time after a period of being a stay at home mum to my other 2 children.
I plan on working up to a few weeks before my due date.
Can anyone tell me if I will qualify for maternity allowance?
I can't work it out :dohh:
TIA

Have you tried the gov website calculator? It's not just the dates of employment but the amount of hours and the income you earn so give that a go if you haven't already. If will give you a rough idea if you will be. If not, just phone them up and the advisors will tell you or not. x

Have a look here: https://www.gov.uk/maternity-allowance/eligibility

Assuming you are earning enough per week to qualify, you have to work for 26 weeks in the previous 66 weeks before your due date. So if you haven't been employed or self-employed in the past year, you have to work for at least 26 weeks before you're eligible at your new job. You should just about make it if you are starting in 2 weeks.
