I'm a week overdue and being induced friday so hopfully my baby should be here within the next week (god I really hope so!!) - 5 weeks before Xmas.

All along we have planned to go to DH parents for 2 nights the weekend before Xmas (they live 2.5hrs away) and introduce the baby to other family members. Then come home and go to my parents (3hrs away) for our usual Xmas (2 nights).

We wanted to keep Xmas as relatively normal as possible - I hate the idea of sitting at home as i've never done this and would miss everyone terribly, also we wanted to reduce visitors in the early days by seeing them at Xmas.

I'm very comfotable in both houses and won't have to lift a finger to do anything! but I am a bit worried about how close it is now and I STILL don't have my baby!

Is it unrealistic to think about 2 weekends away with a 4-5 week old or shall I just plan on spending Xmas under a duvet!!

Any advice gratefully received!

p.s. all my shopping done so Xmas organisation is fairly minimal this year!

i think it sounds good as long as you feel comfortable in both houses then thats all that matters
hope baby makes an appearance soon x

I didn't have my baby at Christmas but I was out and about quite a lot after having Lucas and moved back home 4 weeks after he was born.
I didn't find life as exhausting as people around me led me to believe I would. Once I left the hospital (a week after he was born), I was pretty much back to normal.

I'd have gone crazy being sat in all the time too! Just as long as you don't over-exert yourself and enjoy it :flower:

as long as everything goes ok with induction etc you will be fine. i would advise you to make a list of everything you will need for baby and tick it off as you put it in a bag.

the only thing you may need to think about is IF things dont go to plan and you end up with an emergency c-sec YOU wont be able to drive for a minimum of 6weeks afterwards and you may not be comfy sat in a car for a few hrs.

apart from that go and enjoy yourself as planned. x

You should be okay. People go back work that early -mad! I was dragged up to OHs parents 5days after birth and it was the worse thing ever!! Was in so much pain and my stitches came undone (had an epsiotomoy) agony!

Sounds like what your doing will work for you... I wouldnt want to spend Christmas anywhere other than my mum and dads..
