Hi ladies,

I went to Walgreens earlier (it's an all-purpose pharmacy here in the US) to get William's passport photos taken. It took awhile and he just wouldn't sit still at all. :nope: Currently we have to make appointments to get new passports issued and his appointment is today. I also have to expedite it - so it's really important for his passport to not be denied due to a crappy photo!

So the best photo they got was this one. I'm pretty sure that it's not going to work, but when I told them this she got the manager and he said it should be okay too.

Picture under spoiler:

Okay, so first negative - he's holding my keys and it's visible in the picture.
Second - you can see his hands (barely, but still visible).
Third - He's not completely facing the camera, so you can't see both ears.

Should I get it redone? I might just have to take a picture on my phone and rush to a photo kiosk to get it printed up if it's no good. :(

Bless him! I don't think they would except those in the uk. They are really strict even with babies. Might be worth getting some more just in case.

I don't think they will accept that unfortunately :(

The post office can tell you for sure. Also if you have a Snappy Snaps for you, last time I checked they do passport photos that they guarantee will pass as they make sure they take the photo with all the right criteria. Hope this helps.

Thank you. :hugs: I thought as much. They're pretty strict here as well as far as I know. The lady kept telling me "they don't care as much about babies" and I was like "yeah, I don't know about that" but she kept repeating herself. Urrgh! $10 down the drain. Think I might call and request a refund or something.

I think you'll need to get it redone :(

I wonder if I bitch enough if they'll give me a refund. :coffee:

Thanks ladies. :hugs: Gonna take a picture of him against my wall (which is white) and take it in to get it printed. I called the post office too and they said that it wouldn't be accepted. Sigh. Hopefully if I tell them that they'll just let me reprint the next photo for free.

A lot of passport photo places do have free retake policies for these kinds of situations so you may be in luck.

They won't accept this. I have experience in identity documentation. Your avator is perfect if you had his full head.

Im not sure, they are more lenient with babies/small children- on my youngest daughters she isnt fully facing forward and is also asleep (which is fine but i still worried!) but I would get some more done to be on the safe side and send both sets in x

Thank you. :hugs: I'll just play it safe and get more taken. I'll have to do it super quick as soon as he wakes up!

CeeDee: I was thinking about the picture in my avatar because the unedited version is him against a white background but his whole head isn't in the shot!

In the UK they are slightly more relaxed about babies/children's passport photos

Children must be on their own in the picture. Babies must not be holding toys or using dummies.

If the child is under 5, they don’t have to be looking directly at the camera or have a neutral expression.

If the child is under 1, their eyes don’t have to be open. If their head is supported by a hand, the hand mustn’t be visible in the photo.

If it wasn't for the key I think it'd be fine x

Yeah if it weren't for the key I don't think I would be as worried.

What do you ladies think of these 2? Which is the better of the two, or should I redo?

I don't know about the requirements but both of those look good! The first one seems like the general blank stare passport picture :haha:

The first one looks better as pp poster said about the 'general blank stare'....it seems more appropriate.

I was going to suggest a bit of photo shopping on your avatar picture to blank out the background would've been perfect but you've already taken some more photos.
We sent 3 different photos in for DS's passport and they used the one that we had 'doctored' to blank out the background....think you could see my hand or something!

BTW Your DS is very cute & I love your avatar pic

Alrighty. I went back and she printed a new set out for free. We used one of the photos I took without shadow and lightened it up. Thanks for the opinions ladies. :hugs: The new ones look much better!

For my LOs passport picture I was holding her while wearing a white tshirt. She rested her head between my boobs and I moved my head back so my chin wasn't in the picture. This seemed ok and I had it done by a professional - it was accepted. I would have thought if you had it done properly they would have the expertise to tell you if it'd be accepted. I'd demand a refund if it gets declined.

Deffo the 2nd pic as they would reject from the shadow in the first pic imo. Your LO is so cute btw! xx

I don't think they will take it.

I just got for both of my LO's a passport, expedited as well (came in less then 2 weeks, YAY), and the woman snapped a million photo's of my 8 month old when trying to take his picture. She was also really particular about the lighting as well. They have VERY strict guidelines. She sent in several photo's of him with his application for them to chose from. That is also an option, you can send in a few photo's from them to pick from.

I would ask for a refund or a free retake photo. It's only fair since the photographer didn't get an appropriate picture of him. Here is his passport pic below:
