Hey ladies, so I found this amazing videographer on YouTube. Unfortunately she's in Texas! Haha but I thought I would share one of my favorite home birth videos she did with you all, and get your opinions on recording your birth? Or have you ever recorded it?
Enjoy!

Click here for the video--> https://youtu.be/lljOZZ547i0

PS The video does NOT show any nudity and is done professionally. You don't see the baby actually coming out lol

.

Will I record it?

No no no, never in a million years! I was only just persuaded to film the wedding (only because a friend volunteered!)... I can't imagine wanting to watch me giving birth, but that's just me!

Yes I will tape the next birth. I was going to with ds2, we had him at home and had a video recorder set up, but then I forgot to start it when I was in transition. I deeply regret that. But we did get some good pictures while he was coming out (you can't see my vagina since I'm standing and the camera wasn't inbetween my legs) and the moments after.

I would LOVE to have my birth recorded but DH gets squeamish and the hospital I'm going to choose doesn't allow video recording of the actual birth. :growlmad:
I'll try to get as much video as I can though leading up to the birth because I think it's nice to look at after the fact.

Nooooo, mainly because I don't know who would do it I only want my DH and the midwife there and I want them to be concentrating on me not a camera lol. I will take more photos next time though, we didn't get the camera out until after DS was born and we were out the pool, next time I'd like a photo as soon as he/she is out hopefully in the pool!! My biggest wedding regret is not having our wedding filmed, my cousin who had the camera was coming from hours away and was snowed in :(

Tell me about it! I didn't record my wedding either and I SO regret it! The main point of my thread was to show you the video. Did you girls watch it? It's by a hired professional photographer. Done quite brilliantly I think!

I won't be recording the birth but I would like lots of pictures of it 2 look back on.

I doubt I would record it either. But lots of piccys.

I won't record the birth but I do plan to have someone there to take pictures (not necessarily a professional but just someone we know that is good at photography) that won't be OH or a midwife. I want OH to be able to focus on the birth and not have to worry about taking pics/videos.

My sister had her baby 8 months ago and while generally UK hospitals don't allow you to film the birth, I took lots of videos and pictures of her in hospital in the hours leading up to the birth. At the time she got mad and yelled at me (because she felt and looked AWFUL lol) but now she is glad I did it, because it's so nice to look back on and they were precious moments.

No one outside your family or your relationship or even YOU ever has to see the pictures/video, but look at it this way; You will never regret having them but you might regret NOT having them.

:D

Just watched it, really cute with the music and black and white, it was obviously mostly filmed in between contractions haha the nicer way to remember it I guess, but I'd have liked to have seen more of the birth, she obviously didn't give birth in the water in the end because the baby had all the white stuff on him/her (Elliot came out sqeauky clean in a water birth) But yeah very cute, not quite as gory as usual lol!

Haha, yeah I'm sure they only used the nice, happy footage for the actual video :haha: But I thought it was so cute and artistic. And since it's not so "gory" you could show family members, the children when they get older, etc. If we end up having a baby away from family, I'd especially like to do a video like this so my family could watch it and "experience" with me, as I am very close to my and DH's family.

We recorded birth for our for our first son, however the hospital we had 2nd son in didn[t allow it which I was dissapointed in. We won't be allowed to record next one either :(

Beautiful video. I will definitely record my next birth, I really regret not having done it for the others. I wanted to get lots of photos last time but somehow it never happened.

It's a really beautiful video. Thanks for sharing!

I am not sure. I said that I never wanted pictures or anything as I was about to birth, however my daughter was born 'in the caul' so she was still inside the amniotic sac when she was out and my waters had not broken. She was like a little alien I guess inside a bag my husband tells me and I so wish I had seen it, but as soon as she was out the MW broke the bag and pulled her out before giving her to me. I so wish I had seen it so I might think about it.

I meant to say I have seen that video before, its beautiful.

I don't think I'd necessarily want to video record it (I feel like that might be do much going on in the room around me - one of the reasons I want to have home birth is to have fewer distractions). But I would like someone to take some photos. My friend's doula got some amazing high quality photos of her birth, so if you have a doula, it might be something to ask if they would be able to do. But then again, I've seen so many incredible birth videos, maybe it wouldn't be so bad to do my own.

I didn't realise some hospitals don't allow it?? If DH couldn't make the next birth I'd probably record it now I think of that, I'd be gutted if the hospital didn't allow it.
