So, I have not found a single maternity coat that I like and its getting seriously cold out here in NYC! My coat wont do up anymore, so I need to bite the bullet and buy something before i give myself a chill!

Do you think any of these non-maternity coats would last me til march? :

Has anyone seen any other wrap coats/ non maternity outerwear that might do the trick?

No idea whether they will last but you have fantastic taste in coats.! Lol

Thanks :)

Why does trying to find nice clothes to wear during pregnancy have to be so difficult!

My mum has given me one of her old coats... She's lost weight and let me have one of her old big sized coats. Will do me til March haha :)

If you get a normal coat you like in a bigger size it's as good as (and possibly cheaper than) buying a maternity coat :)

XxX

I'm in the UK so not much help but for you UK girls I got this one from New Look, It's very comfy and it's got some discount at the moment!

https://themcoat.com/the-m-coat.php I just saw this at the baby show and thought it was a smart idea!

I got a wool maternity coat from Target.com and it is fantastic. I wore it for the first time today and got several complements.

I wish it wasn't so hard too! I had to give up on style though, it got to be minus -20 here in the great white north, so I had to give up and wear my OH's old jacket. Very big but warm considering it won't get any nicer weather wise. I guess I'll just have to make due if I can't find anything.....

I am just going to wear my regular wool coat with a very thick and large eternity scarf to cover my mid section. I don't plan on spending a great deal of time other than walking to and from my car. I do hope this is enough. I live in Iowa - it gets deathly frigid here, but I know you probably do more walking outdoors in NYC. The third coat you showed looks the warmest but probably the least maternity friendly. So hard to say since we have no idea how bumpy we'll get!

Giiirl, those are some FA-BU-lous coats you got picked out.
The first two are my fav. Don't know if they'll last till March but you'll look good tryin'.

I'm having the same issue.
I honestly don't wanna buy an expensive maternity coat that I'll only wear once. But so far, no luck finding anything else.

I'm in the UK too, not sure if Debenhams deliver in the US or have a branch there, but this is what I got and it was an excellent choice:

It's lovely, really warm, with a hood, the sleeves have buttons so it can turn into a proper cape too, there's lots of space to move around in it, and since it's a cape you can wear it post-pregnancy too.

By far the best maternity item I've invested in so far.

I like the coat you put up Rockera, very nice. I used an empire waisted dress coat with my son and am using the same this time. It works really well because it is warm but with one button below the bust and an open flared bottom it is perfect for a growing belly. It lasted me an entire Northern Canada winter. :)

The first two coats look nice, but as belly gets bigger I don't know if the look will stay the same. The third I think, will look weird with a belly even with a size bigger. The shoulder probably will be too big and the buttons straining at the belly. Unless you're lucky and don't pop out as much. I bit the bullet and got a maternity jacket and have gotten compliments on it and I don't have to worry about popping buttons on the coats I already have and love.

I am in love with this coat but unfortunately it's sold out in my size:

I like it so much I am being sulky about other coats and just going to try to make due with whatever I can scrounge together! Sour grapes, I know!

I found a GREAT maternity coat at Motherhood Maternity!!! Since I live in Wyoming I really needed a coat and was getting worried but the one that I got even has adjustable strings for when I get smaller again lol :haha: but either way, here's the link:

https://www.motherhood.com/Product.asp?Product_Id=979950070&MasterCategory_Id=MC8

It has buttons but a zipper underneath and the drawstrings are hidden on the inside. Yeah it's pretty much 90 bucks but totally worth it since I can at least wear it for the next year or two (for most of the year thanks to the snow  )

I got this one

I also got a really nice camel cape jacket but I can't see it on the site. I didn't want to spend too much.

Arch.. Wrong link... I got this one

Thanks. :flower:

It's never easy with maternity clothes, is it? And they are so darn expensive. I got the cape for £48 on special offer, and truly cherishing it now that it's colder.

But I still struggle with finding inexpensive yet practical and nice-looking maternity clothes.

LaRockera, try h&m, was really impressed by their range and all reasonably priced. New look does some nice stuff too but mainly online. Check out the next online sale also. I got a pair of jeans, a long navy tshirt dress and two work dresses, all maternity, for £40.

Erikab and SoulAlchemis, those are two gorgeous coats! !

Up til about a couple weeks ago I was on the hunt for a maternity winter coat, but nothing i found was really nice or stylish or affordable. So so far i'm now thinkin of just not bothering to buy a maternity coat. I won't be doing a great deal of walking around outside in the freezing weather other than to go shopping, and i'm always roasting walking around shopping no matter what the weather.

I've asked other friends of mine who've been preggers over winter and most of them have just worn their normal winter coats with a big scarf or jumper on. And being pregnant our body temperatures are higher anyway.
