Should i go by Ronnies birth age or corrected age??
I forget myself sometimes and expect her to be doing things every other 5 nearly 6 months is doing.
She is still only tiny 12lb 9 and cant do a fat lot :(
i know i shouldnt panic but my son ( also a 31weeker ) seemed to catch up rather quickly.
xx

I think you should go by his corrected age for now, altho he may just catch up really quickly and there may not be any need to any longer.

IMO his early arrival does make a huge difference at this stage, but not so much later in life.

Thanks for you reply hun:)
He is a she though lol hahaha xx

:dohh:

Apologies....Ronnie threw me a bit i think.

It's dependant on the preemie tbh - for us its until 2 but you might find Ronnie might catch up by about one.

We don't correct anymore but her development is still obviously behind to some and we have to explain her start to life

Is it normal for her not to hold anything, roll, sit aided yet???
She will be 6months on the 3rd feb?
I can remember ty being abit more forward and he was a week earlier then ronnie.I know they say not to compare children but in regards to her milestones i expected them to be about the same xx

Totally normal at that age for even a term baby hun!!

My friends 33 Weeker didn't reach a few milestones til one, and now at two...jeez, she's so freaking clever it's unreal!!!

Follow ups from neonatal consultants and HV can help reassure you but I do promise everything sounds just fine :)

Alex didn't sit unaided til at least 10months I think. Sometimes it just doesn't matter when they get there, as long as they do :p

As above it really does depend on the preemie. My youngest only recently figured out sitting unaided at 10m(she was a 32 weeker) Whereas my 3rd who was a 33 weeker was walking at 10m! Its easy to compare and normal but they're all different:hugs:

As for you question, yes its totally normal. You have to go by her corrected age at least until 2 and by that she's not even 4 months old yet! Give it a few more months and if you're still not seeing more progress have a word with her pediatrician or HV:hugs:

I go by both ages TBH, we generally go by his actual age but I'm finding myself lately having to lean on his corrected age..We/and the hospital thought he was all caught up (he definitely has in size) and he was actually discharged from the hospital care but I'm just noticing now that his development seems to be slightly behind on some things for his actual, however he'd be advanced for his corrected..he's somewhere in the middle.

Besides that it's just a few small things that concern me..e.g he's only just started to pull his feet up to his mouth, I don't want to google and I know it's technically not a milestone but I'm pretty sure he's well late for that.

We're also having trouble with him keeping hold of finger foods and him getting them to his mouth, his co-ordination still seems miles off, it's a good job we're TW as I couldn't imagine BLW would be easy.

It's hard not to compare but they will all catch up but I also forget too so you're not on your own there :hugs:

Thanks ladies..Were back to neo-natal consultant in april but i think he was concered as ronnie has a strawberry Hemangioma on her left arm.
But i think i need to just sit back and think she is really only 3months lol
Ty was walking at 11 months haha im asking for too much here lmao!!
Amazing what you forget in 4years isnt it i feel like a first time mom again x

Thanks again ladies xx
