I wrote this shortly after we lost Bean, in January 2008. He was our second loss, just 10 weeks after our first, Rice. I wanted to share it. It doesn't have a title, so I normally called it A Poem for Our Angels or Words for our Angels. I hope you enjoy it.
Tears stream down Mommy's cheeks
As thoughts of you flood her mind
She wishes she could hold you,
Maybe kiss you one last time.
Memories racing through
Running quickly as the tears
Knowing all too well
Of all those empty years.
Vacant arms long to hold you
Chilly lips long to kiss
What Mommy wants is so simple
It's Mommy's only wish
It's only empty hope though,
Wishes don't come true
As much as Mommy longs
She can never be with you
But Mommy can feel your angel kisses
And she wipes away her tears
She can feel your angel hugs
Mommy's comforted you're here.
And Mommy will never forget you
Where does Mommy start?
To express and show you, beautiful angels, that
You're always in her heart.
