Ok I know this is rather silly, but I am worried about down syndrome. I had an NT scan a week ago and did not do the blood tests as I didn't want a statistic, but now I am worried because it is only 60% accurate without the blood. The NT scan was great at 1.1 and there was a nasal bone. I am 31 years old. However when I look at the picture It is hard for me to see the nasal bone and profile looks rather flat. I do not know how to put up a picture but if someone can tell me I will do it........

Instead of using the quick reply box, click go advanced below it. There will be a little paper clip in the options with the fonts and what not, and you can upload your pic there. I am sure it's nothing though, especially if they said there was a nasal bone and your lo looks good.

Our bubs profile also very flat. Didnt get a pic though as baby turned round. But when she tried to measure i saw 1.2mm but baby moved again so quick she didnt get it properly. I have bloods on the 12th

They would have told you if there was a problem so try not to worry xxx
We are not professionals and i see lots of women say they worry about seeing things on the scan but they really would pick it up xxx

If the nurse measured 1.1 then go with it... the picture you got might have been taken a few frames later and baby might not be at the right angle to see it.
31 isn't old, unless you have DS in your family or previous children with it, I see no reason you should worry any more than anyone else.

I think its mostly like 35-37+ that maybe it should be considered, 31 is still young!!

Kriann,

If there was no nasal bone, they surely would have told you. However, it isn't fair to your piece of mind if you continue to worry about this throughout your pregnancy. I say go back for the blood test. Although the ultrasound looks good, the blood test will give you piece of mind.

I really think it can be a lot to do with the picture and how its taken etc...I have pics of my little one where his profile looks really flat and others where he has a complete button nose!Sure all is fine, they would have mentioned if they had any worries at all about the nasal bone x

Don't worry about it at all, girl. I became convinced that the nuchal translucency I saw was HUGE and they didn't tell me what the measurement was. Later I noticed on my records it was 1.9 at over 12 weeks--totally normal. Earlier in the pregnancy I also thought that the yolk sac looked huge and I obsessively googled "large yolk sac" (news flash, like everything on google, it's not good news). Of course, at my 20 week ultrasound, I thought the umbilical cord was a foot.

The truth is we are not trained sonographers and it's not surprising that we jump to these conclusions, but the image looks way different to the pros. I'm SURE you have nothing to worry about based on what you're saying.

I agree with the above poster who suggests going back for the blood test for your piece of mind.

But to try and put your mind at rest - my nt test was 2.4 and I'm 32, so higher risk than you but my bloods still came back with low risk and a one in five thousand chance

Everything makes us worry now we are pregnant right!

my babys was very flat at 14 weeks..thought it was odd but her 18.5 wk scan was really full
