A girl I know has a 12 week old baby. Now I know everyone raises their baby different and I've kept my mouth shut on a lot of the stuff she's posted such as getting her ears pierced, weaning her from 10 weeks and giving her juice in a bottle (yes I'm serious) but today she posted a picture of her in her car with her baby in a front facing car seat. I politely put that it's illegal before 9kg so the car seat needs to go the other way (it's a from birth one just facing forward). Well she messaged me saying her health visitor said its ok and I don't know what I'm talking about then blocked me... So I notified the police (who can't do anything unless I knew where she was driving to) and called her health visitor... I feel a bit harsh but I couldn't just not say anything at that!

Ouch. Don't know how some people can behave the way they do. I'm so sad for that baby :( Yeah, I would have done the same.

Didn't want to read and leave without posting, but don't really know what to say. Good for you for sticking up for that poor baby! Hopefully she gets caught and educated.

I probably would have sent her a private message instead, but other then that yes I definitely would have done the same!

I did send her a private message. I feel so bad for that poor baby

She's lying anyway to cover up her mistake - no health visitor would have said that was ok. I would also have politely tried to give a tip. Kind of worried the poor child is possibly going to end up with allergies and/or aversions due to being weaned so early though.

I don't think you've been harsh at all, you've done what's best by that innocent little baby. I'd of done the same! Some people get so offended at friendly advice, just because they refuse to be in the wrong.. When it involves a baby's safety, I'd say it's pretty serious. Good on you. X

Yes I think you've done the right thing. Can't mess around with car seat safety

I think the health visitor just saw the seat itself and said its fine, thinking she'd put it rear facing. Hopefully they'll go out and give her the correct advice. Even my Mum who hasn't had a child for 25 years knows they need to face backwards so I don't understand why she didn't!

I'm confused, how would she even get the seatbelt around it if it was facing forwards..? Part of the seatbelt goes around the back of the carseat, so how would it even be strapped in the wrong way around..?!
I probably would've done the same thing, knowing they're not allowed to say who contacted them.

It's a from birth seat that stays in the car not a seat you can carry. It can face both ways but should be backwards until 9kg minimum x

I honestly don't know how kids survive now a days. I had a fb friend like this and she was even giving the baby who was maybe a month old pizza crust and hashbrowns....like seriously....and said at 6 months she had taken him off formula!! Ugh! Stupid ppl.

Omg you did the right thing! That absolutely shocking!

You did the right thing. I doubt the health visitor really did say it was ok.

You did the right thing. Well done for doing it too. Poor baby. It's amazing how many babies get juice or cola in a bottle.
