We're going skiing in France in january when little one will be one-years-old. Her whole life she has HATED the pram but I am a bit worried about using a sling or baby backpack in the snow in case we fall?

I know she will probably be walking by then but nor very far I imagine.

Any suggestions?

I imagine it would be better falling in the snow - nice soft landing!

I've used a baby sling in the snow anyway and wasn't concerned, was just very careful on icy areas.

I didn't think about that! I'm sure there is little chance of me injuring her as I would always fall to avoid her but just a bit worried about it - thanks for advice.

Would be good to hear other experiences x

I would use a carrier in the snow (not whilst skiing though obviously :D). It's far safer than carrying them in your arms because you have your arms free to break your fall and protect them.

i did last year during the big freeze here in the uk.
xx

thanks ladies

what type of sling/carrier do yout think is best for 1-yr old and winter weather?

i've used a moby when my little one was small but been using mothercare more structred one the last few months. The problem is she leans forward putting lots of stress on my back. I want to move her onto my back but not sure what type to go for?

i would use one just make sure you have some decent boots maybe get some spikes for extra grip :)

Mei tai or Ergo or Beco Butterfly!

ive been considering this because im planning to babywear... but with the road i live on my oh said its not a good idea if it snows or on icy mornings (esp as i have dodgy hips, if i go i just fall) tbh cars cant get up my road in the smallest bit of ice to i think hes right, so im going to buy a cheap pram.

i brought a wilkinet in cream cord :)

I used my ergo daily in the snow & ice. It's Canada... can't avoid it! If we hid inside for that then we'd never leave the house for 6 months.

Surely it's easier to wear a baby in snowy conditions than fight with a pushchair? I don't think I'd want LO on my front though, as I'd like to see my feet and the floor ahead :)

ice no but i would and will in snow :)
