We had Elizas reflux appointment yesterday, all went well, he prescribed her meds and she has only a slight redness to her throat which will heal on its own in a few weeks so no permanent damage yay
anyway he was asking how it effects her sleep so i told him very confidently we co sleep, she sleeps in the crook of my arm and she has done since birth. he started off on the usual guidelines say we should put babys to sleep in their own space, foot to base of cot... all the usual stuff lol! but then he surprised me by saying he personally didnt agree with this and he personally thought it was best that babies and children sleep with their parents until the child feels ready to go into a dfferent bed! he said him and his wife have 3 children and they have 2 double beds in the bedroom! him and his eldest 2 children (5 and 4) in 1 bed with him and his wife and 2 year old in the other bed as the 2 year old is still having BFs in the night, he said that if more than half of the worlds population co sleep then he sees no reason why we shouldn't! he just went through a quick check list of stuff like asking about bedding ect to make sure there was no risk to baby and he was fine with it. he also congratulated me on carrying on BFing even when Eliza would scream at the breast with her reflux and for me cutting out dairy so that we could still continue he asked me how long i was planning on BFing for, i said i guess until she is ready to stop, he thought that was brilliant and has referred me to the dietition (SP?) to make sure that i am getting enough calcium in my diet since im no longer having dairy and so that i can make sure im getting all the nutrients i need to make sure Eliza is getting everything she needs.
This is the first appointment iv been to woth eliza that has turned out well! im so happy right now lol! x
