I need a rant.

Every day someone looks at me and tells me I look tired. Oh wow, thanks, really? So after being told I looked tireed by my mother and friend, my OH walks into my bedroom (where I was lying down) he looks at me and says, wow, you look tired... And like a grub.

A GRUB???? A which now???? :growlmad: i look like a WHAT??????????

I know I look less than my best lately, but I certainly do NOT need people telling me of it all the time. Usually I just half smile and say that yes I am and brush it off... But when OH came in and called me a grub, well, that was the last straw. Lay there and sobbed my eyes out for a bit after he left me alone. And as a man he couldn't understand why I was upset. :dohh:

I explained to him after, when we had a moment alone. He told me he never hears anyone call me tired (lol he does every day)... Then literally ten minutes later my nana came over and guess what her first words were? YOU LOOK TIRED.

My rant is over.

aww...sorry hun..mine is the same...today I got...wow..your so pale....wow you look like a butterball turkey (granted I know I do but still lol..)...wow..your acne is really acting up...wow...your stretch marks have multiplied in just a few days... Im like DUDE..SERIOUSLY?! lol lol..you think I dont know!!?! and then he shuts it..I mean I know its just that hes noticing part of the pregnancy stuff and he doesnt mean it to be mean or whatever but still..you wouldnt go up to a stranger to say that..so why would you say it to me?! especially as emotional as I am..just not a smart thing to point out to a preggie lady... like you said..its not like we dont feel like crap already..or dont know what we look like lol..trust me..I dont have a picture of me as Heidi Klum in my head lol..

Yep... I get the you look tired comment a lot. And lately my hair goes in a quick ponytail and makeup is a thing of the past... so ya...

People don't realize how simple comments can affect pregnant women... hello hormones!! The worst I've gotten is you don't look pregnant.... I'm like oh, really, so I just look fat then, thanks a bunch!!

Hugs Hon!

Yeah... He apologized once my nana was gone, lol. He said he does think I look good, it was just tactless. I told him it isnt even that I want compliments, I just want him to shut his mouth about my appearance entirely. I know I dont look horrendous... But I am at that point where yoyr face gets puffy (cant tell from my avatar but it is I swear!!!) and your hands and feet swell. :( I am just trying not to think too hard about my appearance... The constant reminders suck.

My darling mother-in-law tried to involve me in a conversation by telling me that her fat belly was just like my pregnant one. I let that hang in the air for a second, said, "Thaaaaanks," and got up and walked away while she tried to explain that she wasn't calling me fat.

I mean, I AM overweight and I am very, very well aware of that. But, seriously? My belly currently looks like a pregnant belly, not like a flabby gut. And, even if it DID look like a flabby gut, WHY would somebody assume I wanted to talk about it? Over dinner, nonetheless?!

:dohh:

People have no tact. We have to look at ourselves in the mirror every day. Its not like people tell you how good/bad/tired/grubby you look on a day-to-day basis when you're NOT pregnant. Why do they do it when you are?! Is there really nothing else to talk about other than how I look??

I know how you feel! I'm sick of being told how tired I look! My friend's comment yesterday had me fuming though. Haven't seen her for a couple of weeks and she popped round for 5 minutes in her way out. Lovely way to spend time with me for a start. She then felt my bump and said, "Ooh, its nice and hard now! Isn't it nice to be properly pregnant now instead of just blubber":growlmad:
I was NOT happy. :gun: I've out on 16lb the entire pregnancy, only have a bump, nothing else. And have never considered my bump to be "blubber". Felt like crap when she left.

know how you feel hunny :hugs: I've been getting that a lot recently. Walk into someone's house and before they even say 'hello' it's 'jesus, you look so tired!!' . Yes, thank you I know... funny that!

hard to not take it personally :(

Aw Hun, I think there must be a secret manual on how to piss off a pregnant woman that gives people dumb things to say such as:

You look tired
Every time I see you you're bigger!
Wow you sure it's not twins
(my personal fave) haven't you had it yet?

And many more! Xxx

I know where your coming from and I feel like it's not going to get any better when peanut is here when I'm overtired due to loads of night feeds and just the circle of, feed, clean, meals, clean, feed and bed for the first few months!

My friend saw me in town the other day after I'd been shopping and I has 4 bags with me! I knew I was overdoing it but all she said was 'looks like you've got your hands full' and didn't offer to help me I know she was going to work and going the other way from me but it's the fact she made the point that I was struggling so obvious!

OH does say 'you look overtired or drained today go and sit down and dont do anything, i'm home :)' then he makes me take a bath or stay in bed for longer so it's a compliment for me at the moment! Ha! Then he'll carry on with what I was doing after he's come in from work and done a fulldays work. I feel bad but he doesn't moan about it at all :).

If people said something 'negative' about my pregnancy and then offered to do something e.g. finishing tea off or put the washing away I wouldn't mind but it's when MIL or friends come round say something and still sit there and not help out..

I'm not saying everyone has to do everything for me but to offer would be nice ;)!

Whenever I work, the first two things I hear are "you look pale" and "you look tired" No fucking way, Im doing a 12 hour shift, its 7am and ive been up since 5.30 after an awful nights sleep. Granted I used to put all my make up on before work, but now it just gives me a terrible reaction so I dont bother lol

I don't bloom in pregnancy either hun. I look like I've been out on a constant bender for the last 7 months and don't sleep.

My mother in law is the only one that turned around and said 'you look ill'. Well jee thanks!

I knowwhat you ladies mean. I know i look like crap, getty puffy, great pregnancy mask now too on top of being tired. But i swear if one more person says to me "My god you just keep growing" I will swing for them! I mean seriously, I thought that was meant to happen as i am still growing my baby, Grrrrrr.

One thing I should mention is though...

I have great skin, great hair and I can beat OH in farting competitions hands down!

trust me, you dont look tired and you certainly dont look like a grub! my mum told me that my pregnancy rash (which i have on my face) looks like nappy rash... erm, thanks mum- nice one. You should have seen the stares i got on my way home from hospital the other day- 2 day old sick in my greasy non washed sweat drenched smelly hair... nice.

A "grub"?! The cheek! People need reminding you're building a brand new person inside you. A whole blooming person! And you willingly and selflessly pass every morsel of goodness, nutrition and health straight on to them at the expense of yourself. Is it any wonder you're going to look tired after that?!? We deserve a sodding medal!

i get it all the time but i have a secret, estee lauder double wear.........

makes you look away and dewey skined

In your avatar you look stunning! My OH would be thrilled, I will show you grub dammit!

If someone told me I looked tired, I'd probably agree that I was!

You're gorgeous, if that avatar is you. People are jerks.

P.S.- your little guy is lovely too. He has awesome bone structure. I'll bet he'll be strikingly handsome when he's a man.

I've been starting to get this too. In just the last two weeks or so I've really "popped" and my DH and my mom will say things like "Oh you're looking really big today!" not in a negative way, they're excited, but that doesn't mean I want to hear I look BIG lol. Anyway, it's not sooo bad from family but in a store the other day someone gave me THAT look and goes "really soon now right" and another lady asked when baby was due and I told them Oct 30th and she actually chucked and said "wow, looks more like Oct. 3rd!" :growlmad:Thanks lady!!:dohh:

Yes the avatar is me, cooincidentally taken only hours before the grub comment. Grrrr.

I am just happy my OH apologised. Apparently he meant it in a cute way. As if grubs are cute LOL...
