Hi ladies

My one year old daughter still refuses to nap in the cot. She goes down fine art night no crying or whinging but for naps she thinks she needs to be on me.

I don't really want to go through the awful sleep training we did for night time.

Has anyone just waited it out? If so when was he or she matured enough to sleep in their cot without crying?

I rocked the entire nap until dd was around 17 months old. Put her down one day in her bed and she stayed there and feel asleep. I had tried earlier but she would just cry and I couldn't take it so decided not to do any sleep training. Good luck. While I enjoyed rocking and cuddling her, it was sure nice and very much needed to get that break in the day.

Edit to add: she never slept in her cot as she'd cry every time I tried. I transitioned her to a regular full size bed and that's when she began napping in her bed.

I still hold my 1 yo for all her naps, but at daycare she manages to get her in her playpen. So...it IS possible...just difficult at this stage and I'm not willing to fight it. When we do have success it is when we put her down very drowsy but still awake and pat her to sleep. If she cries I just resort to my old methods haha.

I held or co-slept with my son for naps until he was about 18 months old. I enjoyed it, but he stopped sleeping well for naps with me, so we had to change our routine. I just put him down in his crib after rocking him to sleep and it worked (whereas before when I had tried he would wake and cry). He started taking long solid naps again then.

He's always been a needy sleeper, and be didn't start sleeping through the night consistently until about 23 months. He still gets rocked and put down asleep, but he self-soothes if he wakes at night (usually...).

I'd say keep doing what is working for you both. If something changes, try the crib again. Sometimes they are just suddenly ready.

I held my dd until she was about 13 months. She wouldn't sleep in the crib, so we put a mattress on the floor of her room. I nurse her to sleep and then slip away.

Thanks ladies I am just hoping one day when I try to put her down she would just sleep like she does at night.

At night she even lifts her head up and looks at me as I exit. When I watch her on the monitor she gets into a comfy position and then goes to sleep. It so funny how they are different for naps.
