as the title says!

she pooed ALOT in the womb on her exit into the world and nothing since.

lots of wet nappies.

was weighed yesterday and she has hardly lost any weight at all.

she breastfeeds and sleeps well.

mw says she looks well.

mw said i had to express after each feed an give that to her too...but i can't get any out!!

any advice??????

I would give her a call too (or maybe your GP?) - Sam was pooing several times a day at first. Babies can go a few days between poos and all babies are different, but 10 days seems like far too long (the wet nappies and weight gain are a good sign though) x

hm mi would call her, 10 days does seem a long time. I know ella went acouple of days but was told this can happen

I would definately call your mw or gp as breastfed babies usually poo more often than bottle fed babies. 10 days is a really long time - as for the expressing - are you hand expressing or using a pump? - If you are using a pump the attachment may not be right - otherwise it just means that your supply isnt quite enough yet but keep pumping anyway as the stimulation to the breast will encourage your breasts to make more and you will soon be pumping liquid off.

I'm confused about why you've been told to express after every feed. If this is something you're going to do, at this stage the amounts are so small that your best bet is to try hand expressing - your midwife should be able to show you how. I wouldn't be too worried about the pooing just yet, some breastfed babies just don't poo very often.

mw's been and baby has put on 50g in two days and seems healthy to her...so we've just got to carry on doing what we're doing and wait!!! she may be a record breaker soon!!!!

Bella didn't poo for 12 days and ended up in hospital having x-rays and suppositories (sp?) and all sorts because she was a lazy BF'er and would only take exactly what she needed and no more so there wasn't any waste (So i was told by the consultant!) but her weight had dipped from 8lb 4oz at birth to 7lb 10oz for 4 weeks and my milk was well and truly 'in'. Make sure you drink plenty, a pint of water or squash while feeding and make sure you are eating enough so that your milk is the best it can possibly be. Hope it happens soon hun.
