10 month old not clapping?

Nate is now nearly 10 months and still doesn't clap or wave. All other babies i know have been doing this for months. He's really good at physical things like crawling since 8 months, pulling himself up on things, but just not there yet with some mental stuff. Anyone else have a 10 month-ish old that isnt waving or clapping yet?

Thanks ladies. Now I don't feel so bad. I clap at him, and he smiles when i do it but doesn't clap back yet. My friends baby is the same age as him & claps and waves but doesn't crawl yet, so i guess some babies just work on physical things and some on mental stuff.

Nolan just started doing it about 3 weeks ago. He would always get a kick out of it when we did it to him, but would not mimic it. Then he just started waving at the cat one day, and at the stairs haha now he does it all the times. Same with clapping, he would clap at the the tv at first and now he does it all the time.

My Lo only started clapping and waving after his first birthday and now never quits hehe

Jessica doesnt wave or clap either at 9.5 months. She doesnt even crawl yet or pull herself up on furniture, but she is very good on her feet, saying words and shaking her head to say no. Every baby is different and will do things at different stages. Dont worry x

Flora waves but still doesn't clap and she's nearly 13 months. She does some other cool things though so I'm not too worried about it.

I think it's very variable. Ronan clapped but didn't wave, then he waved but didn't clap and then he wouldn't do either, and then he would do both, and now he does either when he wants to and more often than not just gives you an "I'm not a dog to do tricks" look if you ask him to wave or clap. He's such a little diva.

Yes. they're all different. Grace started clapping at about 7.5 months. She started crawling at 14 months and she still doesn't wave! There's so much going on inside those little heads... very few seem to follow a textbook pattern.

LO claps, if I clap.. he'll mock me. But he doesn't say hi or bye yet. He does the motions randomly, but he doesn't associate the word hi or bye with the motions.

Thanks for all the replies. I try not to compare him to other babies, but its hard isn't it? Plus I keep getting all these emails from babycentre and other sites saying 'your 9 month old will now do this, this and this' and im thinking, hmmm, my 9 nearly 10 month old doesnt do any of that! hah.

Omar was waving at 8 months but he didn't clap until he was 11.5 months & now he doesn't stop xx

Lewis started waving this week and gives high 5, but can't clap. He just grabs my hands to stop me everytime I show him clapping, so don't think he likes it.

Lucy has been clapping and waving for a month or so, I even got a round of applause when I sang the little green frog song to her... but, she doesn't crawl... I'm sure by the age of 3, they will all be doing the same things..
